I think Doyle makes a very strong first impression- particularly as most people will have their first impression of him with a property that is very strong (ie- Sweeney).
But after seeing many Doyle productions now over the years, it's diminishing returns for me. It's the same thing, over and over. I've seen his work on new work and revivals, on modern texts and on classic texts, on musicals and on plays and it all just blends together into... Doyle.
I can't wait to see Fromme and Moore deliver their sitcom-y scenes ten feet apart and looking at the audience.
