The only song that has ever made me cry in the theatre would be "The Beauty Is - reprise" from Piazza. The explosion of emotion from Margaret gets me everytime. Such a beautiful and honest moment for the character. Vicki delivers it like a champ.

Damn, as I've said here before. I blubber like a baby for some reasong when I here "It's a fine life" in Oliver. The break - "not for me, the happy home, happy husband, happy life" launches my rocket. I guess I think of all the sad women who had to settle (and I'm a straight guy, don't do that, ladies)in life. Who'd a guessed Lionel Bart could have dreamed up that?

In my heart, I found the answered dream,
and in my soul I found the song, and in my friends

RENT: Will I; I'll Cover You (reprise).
WICKED: For Good. (I also have ridiculous emotional attachment to this song.)
GODSPELL: On The Willows.
THE LAST 5 YEARS: Nobody Needs To Know.
And the fact that I can list that many says an awful lot, as I never really cry.

Without You- RENT
I'll cover you- RENT
"Only for Now"- Avenue Q. That has to be the one of the most accurate songs for the life everyone lives. I mean, all the songs of Avenue Q represent people in some way or another but I guess "Only For Now" really hits me because...I know it's over
but....Only for Now!

Loving You - PASSION
I Wish I Could Forget You - PASSION
I Read - PASSION
No One Has Ever Loved Me - PASSION
Finale - PASSION
Move On - SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE
Children Will Listen - INTO THE WOODS
Losing My Mind - FOLLIES
Fable - THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA
The Letter and Finale - THE KING AND I
Then there are the songs where I cried because of too much laughter...
100 Hundred Easy Ways - WONDERFUL TOWN
Welcome to Holiday Inn - SEESAW (Saw it performed at a concert by a man... very funny)
There are more I just can't think of them... But I'm sure there were one or two from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Last I remember would be:
Waiting On The Farside Banks of Jordan
from Ring of Fire. I was a complete and total mess sitting in the 3rd row, Cass Morgan is an AMAZING performer, made the performance for me.

I am such a theater nut, usually when the overture sounds, or the first defining notes of a show start, I am a mess...pathetic, I know.
that said...
The line, "to LOVE another person is to see the face of GOD" without a doubt kills me. The whole phrase leading up to that line and the line itself is so profound, to me it is truth.
and the I Love You Song from SB

There is one song from John Barrowman's "Reflections From Broadway"--- "Tell My Father" (from "The Civil War").
From "The Boy From Oz" recording: "Love Don't Need A Reason", "I Honestly Love You" and "Once Before I Go." from Roman in Austin, Texas

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

AHH, broadwayboy430, I know EXACTLY what you mean about the overtures and first notes of shows. Chills. Adrenaline. Tears. I love it.

This could take a while, and is surely incomplete.
Come To Me (Fantine's Death)
The orchestral part after the barricades
Finale
(Les Mis)
The end of See I'm Smiling
Nobody Needs to Know
Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You
(The Last 5 Years)
Mary's funeral scene... I wish I knew the name
(Parade)
I'll Cover You (Reprise)
(Rent)
No One Is Alone (I teared up when kids from my musical theatre class performed this during class... bit embarrassing)
(Into the Woods)
Coalhouse's Soliloquoy (is that what it's called? Sounds wrong)
Sarah Brown Eyes
(Ragtime)
Some Things are Meant to Be
Days of Plenty
The Fire Within Me
(Little Women)
Finale... sonething about the tortured scream and cheesy end line just gets me
(Jekyll and Hyde, at least in the complete recording)
I need a life.

There are a bunch that make me cry. The most recent song that I cried while listening to is Petrified from Taboo.
"Nothing's lost forever. In this world, there is a kind of painful progress. Longing for what we've left behind, and dreaming ahead."
