I just put TL5Y on repeat. It has that whole emotional relationship arc which rips me up. And holy mother can JRB write some heart wrenching string parts.
Well it's not really Broadway-
but "I'm With You" by Adam Pascal is what I listen to
"Still Hurting" from the L5Y (actually pretty much the whole thing, but that one song in
particular, and "You'd Be Surprised" from Here
When I Look at You.
Mine are :
"Le monde est stone / the world is stone " from Starmania
The winner takes it all :Mamma Mia
Once before I go : The boy from Oz
Unusual Ways : Nine
If I can't love her : beauty and the Beast
"I follow" on Audra's way back to Paradise album.
Without You and I'll Cover You: Reprise from RENT
Still Hurting and Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You from TL5Y
I know the truth from Aida
Easy as Life - Aida
Another Suitcase in Another Hall - Evita
Fine, Fine Line - Avenue Q
On My Own - Les Mis
Nobody's Side - Chess
Still Hurting - L5Y
Here Alone - Little Women
Did I Say That?, Why Isn't That Enough - Meat Loaf
"I Know The Truth" is such a great song to listen to when you're depressed, although it gets me down even more, hehe. Sherie Renne Scott really nails this song on the Cast Recording.
"Not A Day Goes By" is definitely one I like listening to but only Bernadette Peters version because she really emphasizes the pain within the song.
"Cabaret" is a great song to play when you're heartbroken, one of those Kander & Ebb songs about life being a bitch but not letting it get to you.
"Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "Rose's Turn" are two songs that have nothing to do with romantic love, but that I still love listening to when I'm heartbroken because of the vulnerability they reveal.

If I'm in that state of mind, I'm too depressed to listen to music. That only makes it worse. The happier I feel, the more I want to listen to music.
