Carol Channing did it in Hello Dolly. Both the '75 production and the '78 production were directed by Lucia Victor. Of course she brought it back again in '95 with a different director.

And Yul Brynner has returned to The King & I a few times, but always with a different director.

But those stars created those roles in the original productions. Cumming created his interpretation in the second revival of CABARET - and this will be a revival of that revival.
