When you go to a show, do you get a souvenier book? I have two, a WICKED souvenier book and a JERSEY BOYS souvenier book. I got the WICKED one when I saw the show in Atlanta, and I think you all know about the JERSEY BOYS one! If you don't then, well, I got it from JLY. How many do you have? Also what show is it from?

Posted: 10/7/06 at 10:39amI used to get one at every show. Now, I only get it if I adore the show. Btw, I have a few I'd like to sell if anyone's interested (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Chicago)

I guess when I see JERSEY BOYS I'll just have to bring it! And if someone asks me how did I get it signed, all I'm gonna say is that "John Lloyd Young gave it to me by mail."
I hope that when I see another show I can get another one.
I would like to get a Chicago one.

These souvenir books have been a passion of mine for ages. I've been collecting them since I first started going to see shows on Broadway (started at age 7 -- first show AND first souvenir book? Original 1972 Broadway PIPPIN). I've also been fortunate to obtain tons of pre-70's ones thanks to my folk's and grand-folk's old collection.
I even have the original Broadway GYPSY, RED HEAD, MAME, BYE BYE BIRDIE, THE PAJAMA GAME, SWEET CHARITY, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (original AND when Bette Midler was in the show, and even FUNNY GIRL (pre-Broadway which only contained rehearsal photos, the Broadway one with actual production photos and even the 1st Nat'l Tour with Marilyn Michaels).
It's literally hundreds, so I can't list them all.
Woof!

Posted: 10/7/06 at 11:40amI used to collect these when I was a teenager. I'd literally buy one at every show I saw. I also tried to collect as many Les Miserables souvenier books from all over the world as I could. I probably have about 50 still in my collection, but I used to have many more.

When I was younger I used to buy and save them all. But then after college and moving around I stopped buying them because I couldn't box everything up and move it around with me.
Now that I am "setteled" down I buy again, and I wish I had them from all the show inbetween where I stopped.
It gets expensive, and having room to store play bill, ticket stubs, sov. books. But that's why they call me crazy.

I don't. They're too expensive from me. The only one that I bought was The Producers(signed) which I bought at the Broadway Flea Market for 5 dollars.
I also have one from a West End production My Fair Lady and Fiddler on the Roof with Zero Mostel. Both were given to me.

Posted: 10/7/06 at 7:14pmI lost the few old ones I had (Including one from the original production of the Wiz. Which kills me!) I have since stopped buying them. The only two I have now are from "Wicked" and "Sweet Charity". Both of which were given to me. Wicked by the person I was seeing at the time we saw the OBC and "Charity" was sent to me, along with the promo CD, by a friend after I saw the show in New York.
