Has anyone lotteried for Spelling Bee since it opened or since the Tony nominations? What has the crowd been like? I'm planning to lotto on Sunday.

I tried. Didn't win, though. There was a lot of people because of Wicked. They had SRO that you could purchase for the same price, though. That was nice beacause you can sit down on the floor once the show starts.
Wait, Spelling Bee has standing room now? Is it at the back of the orchestra like other shows.
circle in the square doesn't really have a 'back of orchestra' ... from what i have heard, the SRO it is on the side?
i haven't tried the lotto yet but none of my friends that have been trying have won yet.
so is it worth it to try SRO and sit on the floor. Can you still see?
Yes, you can still see. I did SRO on Friday the 6th, sat down and could still see perfectly. I was not a big fan of the show though. Guess I am the only one.

Yet another reason to love Wicked. I'll probably lose the Spelling Bee lottery 52 times to a bunch of 12-year-olds who are only trying it as their second choice.

i won the lottery on tuesday night... there is standing room on the sides, which would be great... it's a short show and you could see the whole thing great!
cool, i'm trying the lottery tonight after the DRS one. But since I always lose, my friend and I already have plans to see a movie.
and you might even like SRO better than the lottery seats. They are literally benches a foot from the stage and you are sitting looking straigh up whenever someone stands at the mic to spell. Kinda like sitting in the very very first row of a movie theater. I did enjoy being that close, but a complete view of the stage in its entirety was somewhat lost.
Next time i might try SRO... i wouldn't mind being a bit farther back. Getting spit on wasn't quite my cup of tea... but i'm not complaining!

Is SRO only available if the show is sold out? has it been selling out?
What time do they draw the lotto? What time should I get there if I plan to try?

Anyone know if standing room as been readily available recently. I want to go on Saturday. Do you think they'll be sold out by the time the box office opens so I can get standing room as soon as it opens. Thanks
They might not sell out until a couple hours before the show. When I went in late April, the lady was giving us a hard time because we wanted to use the discount code for $70 tickets and she wouldn't let us. They only had a couple full price left and even tried to have us buy even more expensive tickets. However, we called Telecharge and they let us buy the tickets for the discount price. And they didn't even sell out that night.
