Blockheads-
Mexican. The food is edible and they have $3 margarita's.
Great chinese- Tea Den 55th and 8th. A great dinner special,
$10 for a glass of wine, appetizer, entree and dessert.
The food is wonderful. They even have a spa menu which I order from now. The food is very good but the decor is really simple and not glamourous. (The price is excellent and the food is tasty)

46th street between 8th & 9th is "restaurant row" and has lots of great places with great prices. irish, italian, mexican, thai, japanese - they have it all.
thalia's is on 50th & 8th i think (next to food emporium) and i guess rachael ray likes it though that's no reason to go.
i like carmine's and i'm not a tourist. also stardust diner is kitschy and touristy and expensive for a diner but has singing waitstaff.

Thalia's... less than half a block away. Lovely place, great environment and they're all exceedingly nice there. I love it a lot... but a lot of the other places recommended are great too.
and ditto... restuarant row is only a few blocks away and i don't think you can even walk the whole block without finding at least a couple places you'll love.
good luck!

well the real question is what KIND of resteraunt are you looking for? Nothing is that far away?
you looking for something nice, casual, etc?

Posted: 1/19/06 at 1:56pmDont go to the stardust. The food has gone downhill and the prices have gone up over the years.

Some of the cast members like to go to the Palm after the show. When I saw them at Seth's Chatterbox they mentioned being finished with their show and having drinks while watching Wicked let out.

Posted: 1/19/06 at 7:10pmwithout question, the best restaurant around the Circle in the Square Theater is a sort of new restaurant called Harmony View Grill. It is a wonderful irish pub/grill with fantastic food. I discovered it the first time I won the bee lottery since it is just across the street and to the left from the theater. So great!
