This show never really peaked my interest for some reason. Hopefully I'll be able to see it before it closes.

Question -- could a lockout before the planned 1/20/08 closing cause it to close earlier?

So sad. Luckily, I've seen it twice in New York.
[title of show] will be the next tennant at The Circle in the Square.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of SPELLING BEE... on a long and successful run. Everyone involved should be extremely proud.
So sad it is closing. Hopefully Jennifer Simard will be alright!
Between this and Raku I am down in the dumps.
Bee is one of my favorite shows.
SO SO SO SAD.

What a wonderful show. Saw the original cast and the replacementish cast(when Panch, Bolger, Fogler and Ferguson had moved on). They didn't have the same magic, but the show made me smile all the same.
What I don't understand is all the venom. Why? I can understand if you didn't like it. But to act like it was a total waste of space is just misguided.
Great Show!
Maybe some of the original cast could be guest Spellers in the coming weeks.
I think this show will have an amazing future in every Summer Stock, Community Theatre. College, High Schools, and anyone who wants to have a good time and participate in a well written piece.
And if the (TITLE OF SHOW) buzz is true. it would be smart to follow one clever, fun show with another.
very sad but not shocking, i know of at least 3 regional productions planned

awww...what a great show! I'm glad it had so much success but sad to see it go. Ah, we must move on to bigger and better things.
*Sings*
Goodbye
You were good but not good enough
So please don’t ask why
Simply say
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye...
*When Avenue Q closes, I will be beyond distraught*

I can see it now.
Spelling Bee at Sacramento Music Circus, with William Michals as Panch!

A fabulous show with so much heart. A small, simple show whose STORY and CHARACTERS truly take the spotlight - as opposed to green witches and chandeliers and ABBA tunes.
But it is indeed time. Get out while it is not yet tired. It's perfect timing IMHO.
And it had a FABULOUS run!
Can't wait to see it in regionals!"
This is my EXACT opinion, CapnHook. Very very well said.
SO EXCITED to see [title of show] on Broadway, but not sure that Circle in the Square is going to be its home, per say... Maybe.
Something Wicked- I'm going to need to know RIGHT NOW where you are getting that information about [title of show]!
... because if it's true... THANK GOD!!!
Spelling Bee will be missed dearly. It was a charming gem of a show hidden amidst the dreck that makes up the majority of Broadway today. It's big heart and laughs will be missed on the Great White Way. Here's to the next masterpiece from William Finn!
....One of my most enjoyable and personally memorable evenings at the theatre. So grateful that it had a very successful run for such an unassuming show.
I can't help but be sad about this. Such a lovely show. I will miss it.

You mean a strike. And yes, if there is a strike Spelling Bee probably won't reopen.
This is sad. I really enjoy this show, but its time has come. I like the advanced notice, and I might just have to see this one more time.

I don't understand the venom expressed or how a show closing would make someone 'so happy'.
Bee was an adorable, clever show that had a great run. I love Bill Finn's work and hope that we'll see something new from him very soon.
Has anyone seen the tour?

Yes, I wonder what "Spelling Bee," and "Les Mis" as well, would do if the stagehands are on stike on the day they are set to close, wherever or not either of them would reopen.
I saw the show a few times in LA with it's original cast and I think it's so much fun. I'm sad to see it close but I am happy that it had a good run and if it's starting to go downhill, maybe this is for the best.
I hope the [title of show] rumors are true. That'd be awesome! :)
Aw, this is really too bad. It's such a fun show. I'm seeing it on tour in March, though, so that makes me happy.
