Will "The Wiz" takes its place?

the Wiz?
In that small theatre?
Wasn't Circle in the Square the ideal theater for the show? I did not see the La Jolla production, but I thought that the theater was the best fit for it.

So sad What an amazing show. I think this would be a great theatre for 13 though, and according to Jason Robert Brown's blog it's well on its way and they're starting casting.
Well it looks like everyone was right about this show closing soon. Now we have to wait to see what's coming in its place.
It's always sad when a good show closes but it had a good run. There was a magic with the original cast that, in my opinion, subsequent casts weren't really able to match. I'm glad I saw it when I did. I'm anxious to see what show goes in the space.

No reason for sadness. It had a great critical success and a long and very profitable run. They should be proud.
I wish Passing Strange could somehow switch from the Belasco to Circle in the Square -- a more intimate setting would really be to its benefit.
I don't think The Wiz is making the transfer, and as far 13 goes? Well, in all honesty, I don't see it making it... I wonder what'll end up calling the theatre a home after the bee comes to a close?
I love the current cast, but the show was never destined for a long run. Fare thee well, SF/Boston spellers!
Oh yeah! One show I can proudly say I never saw nor ever made the effort to see.
Whoo-hoo!
Really wish I could have seen it but im in the Uk and not coming to New York till the summer. Doubt it will ever have a Uk production either . Oh well.
Not destined for a long run! What are you on about! Over 1200 performances not a long run!!! Hello!

Yeah, I was going to say that 1200 performances is a long run in my book. It'll finish somewhere around the 75th longest running show in the history of Broadway. That's out of over 100 years and literally thousands of shows -- pretty impressive for such a little show that had no stars, special effects etc....
It recouped, it had a nice run. No need for sadness.

Thank God for small favors.
I am glad that I got to see it, but when I saw it again recently, I knew that it was on it's last legs. It was a great show and had a good run. Goodbye Spellers
One of the last shows on Broadway with a HEART.
Congratulations to a wonderful and lovable run! Superb cast. Superb script and songs. Was the first show of its season to recoup then just kept on truckin'
I remember meeting and interviewing the current Bway cast back when they were bright-eyed and bushy-tailed opening the San Francisco sit-down production (seems like ages ago). This show breeds good-hearted people.
I can't wait for the antics they've got in-store for their final week.

After seeing the Scottish National Theatre's awesome Black Watch at St. Ann's Warehouse, I was bummed that more people wouldn't get to see it. Found myself wondering if there was any way its staging could work in a Broadway house. Perhaps not, but if it were to work, it would probably need to be somewhere like Circle in the Square -- or maybe the Vivian Beaumont.
Agreed, though, Margo. Passing Strange would make a lot of sense here.

Sad as it is, I can't say I'm surprised to see it go. They had a good run, though. Fare thee well Spelling Bee.
