I'm going to cry. My favorite show. gone.
Edit:// Does anyone know what they'll be doing with all the posters in the lobby of Circle? Are they just being chucked in the dumpster because I really want the "Sunday in the Toilette with Mary" poster.

Never saw it & never had a desire to do so.
I am wondering how many shows will shutter after the holidays.
Spelling Bee just wasn't a show that caught my interest. I heard most of the cast recording...often the best way to get me into a show...and it never really clicked with me. Nor did the video preview.
Nothing made me want to see it.
I listened to the cast recording once, didn't like it, put it away, rushed it in SF, and...
11 performances later...
I'-L-L M-I-S-S Y-O-U!
A fabulous show with so much heart. A small, simple show whose STORY and CHARACTERS truly take the spotlight - as opposed to green witches and chandeliers and ABBA tunes.
But it is indeed time. Get out while it is not yet tired. It's perfect timing IMHO.
And it had a FABULOUS run!
Can't wait to see it in regionals!
anyone else hoping to see some [title of show] go into this theatre next spring?
What other small shows are looking for theatres? The Wiz, Title of Show, Vanities, ?
Saw it with the original cast in May of '05 and loved it. So glad it had a nice healthy run.
It was a cute and fun show. I'm glad I got a chance to see it. If I wasn't so busy already I would try to see it one last time, but I'll always have find memories of Broadway Night!
I will really miss this show. It's hilarious and, as others have said, has oodles of heart. Not to mention it's completely original, which is not seen much on Broadway these days.
There was definitely a certain synergy - no, not syzygy!
- with the original cast that you often see with small-cast shows, which I agree the successive casts could not match. Nevertheless, I think the show will always retain its charm no matter who is in the roles.
*sings* Goodbye!
Oh, and I'm with Kaybee on the [tos]ness!
It had a great run and is still one of the best shows on Broadway right now.
I love this show and see it as a much sought after show for High School drama clubs. It's such a fantastic show and I hope people remember it and will revive it in the future.
Hilarious show! Not sure why so many people are so proud to say they never saw it. Weird. Saw it. Loved it. Saw it two more times in Chicago. Loved it there, too.
Can't say I'm surprised. Saw it last week and the house was only half full.
I saw the original cast about a year and a half ago and thought that everyone involved was nothing short of FANTASTIC. The replacement cast has some standouts but just doesn't sync together like the OBC did.
aww its a great show but its had a great run
Bye Bye Bee
I am really hoping that by some stroke of God, some of the OBC comes back for the closing. No offense to the SF cast, but the original cast really had the pizazz for the material.
What I wouldn't give to see Sarah Saltzberg go all out on the final show...
I don't wish to sound insensitive, but...

I'm not getting the hate, really. It's not like this is some distended zombie of a show running on fumes for years on end. It's a good show that had a very good run.
Spelling Bee served a curious function for me- its wide appeal and generous rush policy made it my default recommendation for friends visiting New York. I'll miss having it that easy.
I've seen it three times now- once at Second Stage, once with the original cast on Broadway, and then again in early September, with a friend who'd come in from South Korea. It was still good material, but the old spark wasn't there. Shows come and shows go- I think it was Spelling Bee's time. My only regret is that I never lobbied to be an onstage contestant.

A production the size of The Wiz (cast alone) could never recoup in that tiny theatre.
And as Margo said, it had a great run. The show has run its course. It was a lovely production but all good things end. We should look forward to future productions in that space rather than using the lame "Actors out of work!" complaint., They're actors, its the nature of their job.
Aw, I love this show.
Ah well. It had a good run.
Though it has had a healthy run for such a small show, I'm still sad to hear this. The good news though is that this show will have a long life in regional, community, and high school theaters. Long live "The Bee."
I love S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G
I am glad -- I saw it twice Broadway & the Boston run. I will miss it.. but hey...It had a healthy run...

Sad to see it go, but I think it's definitely run its course, and I'm so excited to see the next thing to utilize that space.
It had a successful run and I'm sad to see it go.
But I think that [title of show] would be an excellent choice to play at the theatre now.

How about a broadway transfer of next to normal?
I loved this show with the original cast! I loved it so much that I organized a trip so I could bring a group of teenagers from the theatre group I work with to see it and they loved it too. I just hope everyone who wants to see it can get there before Jan 20. It's worth it.
