Did anybody watch? Taymor brought photos of some of the costumes and set...and I've got to say, some of it does look pretty good. Not $50 million amazing, but really cool.

I literally turned it on at the last note so I just missed it. Can't wait for a video to show up somewhere.

I feel like yelling at Reve Carney to take a shower, but then I realized he has a pretty decent voice. HMMMmmmmMM.
I liked it though. It was different and yet had the distinct mark of U2. It sounds different from the other rock musical scores we've heard lately. I for one, am intrigued! Also loved the feature on Michael Cohl in the NYT today. Looks like that PR team is finally getting off their bums!
PS: Kudos to the OP for FINALLY getting the name of the show spelled right!
that reeve carney is definitely easy on the eyes. the song is very U2. not that that's a bad thing, just hoping there'll be a wider range of songs.
I cant understand a word he's saying except for "the boy that falls from the sky"
By the way,
Here's a snarky article that has some nice screencaps from Julie's interview with the character designs.

Yeah...I have no idea what he was saying. His voice wasn't bad though.

Very interested in seeing Spidey. It was kinda hard to understand what Reeve was saying, though.
I heard (and liked) the lyrics to the first verse, but one the band kicked in I couldn't make out a single word.
I do like the song though, well at least the music.
I have no idea what to expect from this, but I think I'll see it.
The music sounds great, very rock and very dramatic, just like many of the songs that end up in this super hero movies (Evenesence Bring Me To Life etc)
Im excited now

So that guitar loop that plays on the website that's so far our only glimpse of the show is actually from this song?
Honestly? I kinda like it.

So very little about that looked or sounded at all theatrical. It's interesting how in some ways, Broadway is reconnecting back with popular music with these elaborate concerts/spectacles-as-theatre-pieces, but at what cost to the art form of musical theatre?
"So very little about that looked or sounded at all theatrical
Are you kidding? its so melodramatic, its very theatrical just with an edge. And of course it did not look theatrical it was just him singing with a band.
I don't for a second think Spiderman is just going to be a concert, it has a story thats tried and tested. Yes it's gonna be a spectacle but so was Saigon, Les Mis, Wicked, Phantom etc
And why does they have to be at a cost to anything. Broadway should always be diverse and embracing.

You guys are being way too tough. I loved it, and thinking about how this will be on stage, with all those lights and flying stuff, its gonna be incredible. i couldnt understand much of what he was saying either, but thatll work itself out. he has an incredible voice.

in two short sentences you manage to contradict me, and then fully support what I said. very well. enjoy the show!

You do realize that "stuff flying" does not mean the show will be "incredible", right? Often stuff like that are there to distract the audio from what isn't there...quality book/lyrics.
Don't just look at the flashing lights and be blinded.

I have to agree. It looks like it is coming together just as Julie hoped it would. This show could be a major player this season.
I thought it sounded good, and could be a grower as I hear it more. What boggles my mind is the costume designs Julie Taymor's showing off. What exactly is the aesthetic of this show because I don't know if her commedia dell'arte approach is suitable here. Definitely intrigued and if it runs long enough I might actually see it this winter.
