Does anything think there will be a discount during previews at least? Or are they going to go the way of Addams and wait a while?
After reading todays post I kinda want to see it in the Orch just for the spectacle of it all.
R ;o)
I wouldn't count on any discount codes for this one, and if there were to be one, not until performance have started.
Thats what i am thinking also...
Even if it turns out to be Carrie 2010 I have to see it!
Doesn't the show need to sell out for 40 years or something at full-price to even recoup the initial investment (I'm probably grossly exaggerating that number)? I doubt we'll see discounts anytime soon - if any it would be minimal.
With a $54 Million budget to recoup, I doubt there will be a discount for a few years (provided it runs that long).
Face it, unless this show runs for 20 years, it's going to be a massive financial flop.
1. It won't take 20 years for this to re-coup, but only 5 or 6...if playing to full houses.
2. Discounts have more to do with getting people's butts in the seats than it does with how much money they need to recoup. If people are paying full price and they are getting near capacity that way, there is no NEED for them to discount. If, on the other hand, they aren't selling enough tix at full price, then you can bet your bippy there will be discounts.
3. I wouldn't expect ANY discounts to appear much before a few weeks before performance begin IF there will be any.
Until we know if this will be another Wicked or another Ragtime, there is no way of knowing about discounts. Whether a show sells has little to do with how good a production actually is.
I was being sarcastic about it taking 20 years....but it will take considerably llonger than the average 1-2 years for a musical.
Yes, 5 or 6 as I said.

One thing I bet everyone can count on -- IF (and I mean a long-shot IF) Spiderman gets spectacular reviews, I can almost guarantee that they'll pull another Producers and raise the ticket prices the day after the show opens. If that happens, it's only a matter of time before the other shows will follow suit. I'm afraid the days of the $200.00 top price (not premium, just regular) are approaching much too quickly.
As if ticket prices aren't digustingly expensive enough on Broadway.
I bet that by easter tickets will be discounted - if not earlier.

The regular priced tickets for the orchestra and dress circle have been raised roughly $6-8 since they went on sale thinking the show would open back in February.
Just bought tickets as an American Express cardholder. ALL orchestra seats are $140 each. Ridiculous. I hope it is worth it.
