I think these Spiderman references are hilarious. Elton's digs, Spiderman smashing into walls in the digital short. So funny.
I missed the beginning of the dig at the show during the roundtable skit.

Something to the effect of: "I'm so glad Bono is here. He can do anything. Except write a Spiderman musical."
After he started singing Can You Feel the Love Tonight and said "The Lion King - still in theaters."

I think it was more like...
Bono said something to the effect of "Getting together and creating art can save anything." to which Elton John replied "Except the Spiderman musical!" and then did the Lion King bit. Very funny.
I didn't find the Spider-Man digs funny in the short, but I loved them in the skit. I guess there's no love lost between Elton and Julie!
Elton sang, "Can you smell a bomb tonight?" Then said, "The Lion King...still in theatres."

The cat skit was never funny. 10 times later it is still lame

You're approximately four generations too old for most of the humor on SNL, Roxy. I'm just being honest.
Math is a bit wrong
SNL was not even on the air 4 generations ago. IMO it is lame. If you like it, great . The rest of the show was great & Elton was Sir Elton.
I didn't know there was an age limit on comedy, in general, or SNL in particular.

Does anyone actually find SNL funny at all?
Ever?
sometimes it is inspired! and has launched many a mega star, from belushi, to murphy to fey...and many others! it is like a comfortable favorite sweater that just fits right. i don't watch it all the time, and soetimes it has been dreadful, i admit, but i am just glad it is still there.
even if it is mainly populated by writers from the harvard mafia that are sometimes woefullly out of touch and too smug for their own goood.
Just curious, What does the statement that Roxy is no longer part of the target demographic have to do with how long SNL has been on the air? Apples and oranges.
And, sometimes SNL funny, often is its awful, but it is the perfect show for a DVR. I usually like the digital shorts and when they have a really talented host, it usually shows.

I think it's the strongest cast they've had in a while. I've been watching every episode this season, and some of the sketches are really inspired.
I actually really have enjoyed the Laser Cat shorts, but thought they could've done more with the musical aspect this week.
As for humor, certainly there is humor that is targeted at a certain demographic. Some of the SNL sketches have a very narrow specific audience, but still manage to be funny for everyone else.
Last night's episode was pretty strong in my opinion. I also thought Eisenberg's was one of the strongest of the season, whereas there were only a couple of moments in Miley Cyrus's (i.e. Disney Channel Acting Camp).
I thought the whole show was hilarious and noticed/heard all the SPIDY references- especially when he slammed into the wall *lol*
The LASER CAT Musical was beyond hysterical... Did anyone notice Sir Elton has on the Phantom mask on in the skit? He had it covered in silver foil
