Before I even ask my questions lets get a few things out there
1)I'm not a fan of the show
2)I dont even have the slightest clue what its about
3)I was just curious
So I went to the website for no good reason and saw that you can submit an audition online. So my questions
1)Wtc? Are they that desperate for good actors?
2)Has anyone ever got a callback from an online audition?

How can you dislike the show if you don't have the slightest clue what it's about? They're not desperate for anyone, they just want young talent. This is a good way to find it.
I re-read my post and I'm sure I never said I disliked it. Woah it only 2 minutes for a SA fan to attack me.

Oh ok, my bad you said not a fan. But this whole post is kind of stupid. If you have a question about auditions, ask it. Why do you have to give out disclaimers? And I answered your question by the way, so you're welcome. And yes, people have gotten callbacks.
they are spreading their casting net as wide as possible. They also have open call auditions for non equity actors in many cities.
They truly are looking for untapped talent...and they are willing to work with those without professional experience. Additionally: MANY of the young aspiring NYers are too trained, too "broadway" for the style of the show. They don't even want you singing traditional bway shows for auditions.
And to defend Jake: stating you are not a fan, made it sound like you are "anti-SA". I read into it the same thing that jake did.
Because they need performers who are so young, it makes sense for them to be like HAIRSPRAY and RENT and search unrepped, non-union, non-"professional" talent.
What would classify as non professional. Only HS productions? No voice lessons?
Meaning they haven't worked professionally. They haven't worked in professional productions.

They don't really care if you're professional or not. They just want genuine pop rock voices. If you come across too musical theatre, you're out of there.
Even though I have no clue what the show is about, I might submit an audition...just like 10,000 other kids.

Yea, they don't mind professionals as long as they don't don't come across musical theatre. I remember them announcing at one of the open calls (as per my friend) that they didn't want to hear vibrato. Which sort of implies they don't want trained singers.
theyre not desperate, its because theyre trying to give everyone a chance who wouldnt normally have this opportunity.
I think its a cool idea, I just happen to be getting headshots done soon...I might send my stuff in.

"they dont want to hear vibrato." What??? My voice has a natural vibrato and I have only had two voice lessons in my whole life. Does this qualify me as trained? I pray this is so untrue because I will be auditioning for the show very soon. I'll just have to add in some mariah carey runs to try to hide it i guess. Any one know what else they AREN'T looking for besides "musical theater" and "vibrato"?

Question about the Equity auditions in the city:
It's okay for non-equity to attend, correct? I know it usually is, but at Wicked a few months ago, they weren't seeing any non-eqs...
Also, any suggestions for a good tenor audition song?
Thanks!
So, I'm throwing around the idea of going on April 13th for the NY open call.
For those who have done the open call thing before: Any advice or suggestion on a song: I'm a tenor.
I have NO professional experience: Only HS shows and two summers of community theater for teens. I was only in choir in HS, so no official voice lessons.
I watched the SA preview recently, to feed my SA obession and I sang along to some of it, and I can certainly fit it well.
So.. Advice would be greatly apperciated. :]

Still entertaining the idea of going to the april audition...it seems like a fun thing to do either way, but part of me doesn't want to bother because I don't have any professional experience. And they really don't want any vibrato?

Guys, it doesn't matter what your resume looks like. If you go in there and wow them with your audition, that's all that matters.

I actually noticed that every cast member has vibrato. Maybe they just mean tone it down, as you would singing pop-rock anyway.
