Spring Awakening Tour - Going Backstage?

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone had been able to get backstage on the Spring Awakening tour and how they did it? I'm meant to be going in Chicago but live in London so would LOVE to meet the cast!

Thanks for any advice,
Kate

Unless you know someone in the cast or are someone special, the odds of you getting backstage are pretty... non-existent. However, there's the stagedoor, which is where the cast exits from. Most theaters allow you to wait outside the stagedoor to get autographs and meet the cast after the show is over. Where the stagedoor is varies from theater to theater, so ask someone who works there when you go.

Have a blast!

It is almost never done for random folks. The actor needs to truly trust the person for that to happen.

Can't hurt to try, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I sat onstage for the Boston leg of the tour and you can kind of see backstage when you walk to your seat.

As for actually getting a tour backstage, unless you know someone in the cast, it is not likely to happen; however, I have heard stories of people with no connection to the show getting random backstage tours (I think I heard this with Wedding Singer). Anyways, you either have to be in the right place at the right time or know someone.

Or BUY one during BC/EFA. If I remember correctly, a lot of shows offer one then...for like 500 bucks.

Does anyone know if Tours ever offer the same thing? (I do almost all of my theater going in NY and sedom see tours.)

I've been backstage at a national tour, but I had connections to a cast member. It will be very hard for you to get a tour unless you know someone.

Jersey Boys in San Francisco did (I believe it was $50 for a pair to go backstage), but I don't think it's a very common occurrence.

The only times I've been backstage were either because I knew someone in the cast or an actor offered. I would never just ask.

re: Spring Awakening Tour - Going Backstage?

backstage at a tour is rather cramped and impersonal. For example when I saw Little Shop of Horrors in Philadelphia, I had a family friend in the cast (standby for Audrey 2). He literally couldn't take us backstage because of how small the backstage area was. Literally the distance between the stage door and the stage left entrance was less than 3 feet.

Exactly Tourboi. Phantom was here in Denver and I went backstage twice. (I posted pictures on the BWW Denver site with an interview) The Buell and Ellie Caulkins theaters have a huge backstage area.

I think the bottom line is you need to know either an actor, tour personnel, or theatre personnel to get backstage. Otherwise I'd forget about. Especially with a fan-girl heavy show like SA, the cast and the staff are probably on super high stalk alert and wouldn't be too open to unsolicited asks for tours from fans. But hey, you never know.
