Tacky. Don't do it.

Only if she asks to do it.

I say do it. If she throws a fit about it, then you dont want to date her anyway.
Ask her first, I bet she will say yes.

She may say yes to be polite, but she'll be thinking 'what a dork".

That's what I would do. But then, of course, I'm a bitch. :)

Honestly, it doesn't seem like a wise choice, unless the two of you are both passionate about the show and don't mind waiting around. I know that personally I wouldn't want my first date to be standing around waiting for an autograph or picture. (Of course, it depends. If the show had Raul Esparza in it, I'd probably be exhuberant and more than willing to go along).

Of course, if the date is going awful...do it!

Then you can say "Jeez, wish you were as hot as the girl in the show who couldn't spell. I'm waiting here for her, I'd certainly do her right now if I could."

I met my boyfriend while waiting for autographs.

Uh yeah, Yero, but were you on a first date, waiting at the stage door with someone else?

re: Stage dooring on a first date?

Well, no. But my point(s) is(are), straight men do stagedoor and some people really do enjoy it. When I find a man that is as excited about getting Adam Pascal's autograph as I am, I know that's a man that I could spend the rest of my life with.

In fact, I don't think I could seriously be with someone who doesn't understand or enjoy stagedooring.

I don't mean that superficially, but seeing shows is a big part of my life and I usually stagedoor them. I would like to share my passion (theater, not stagedooring, but I usually don't do one without the other) with my significant other.

re: Stage dooring on a first date?

I wouldn't. The first date should be getting to know each other, not making her staand there while your fawning over an actor. If you want to say you like to meet the actors as a casual comment during dinner afterward, that's fine to gauge her reaction. If she's cool with it, you could say something like "oh well, good to know for the next show we see." If she makes a face or says "wow, what a dork." you could be like "well yes we all have our dorky sides."

It's up to you, but I would feel like the guy wasn't really into me, if he spent alot of our first date fawning over some people he never met before.

re: Stage dooring on a first date?

Stagedooring does not equal fawning. It depends on how he acts. Granted, I don't know the girl in question, but I would imagine that, while fawning over an actor and ignoring your date would be a turn-off, respectfully thanking the actor and discussing the show while you wait would show her that you are a thoughtful, gracious person who appreciates the work that other people put in for your enjoyment and want to let them know.

There is also lots of waiting time at stage doors, particularly shows with large casts. You could spend that time chatting and getting to know each other, potentially extending your date by half an hour or so. Plus, you will have shared a really cool, possibly once-in-a-lifetime experience on your first date. How many people can say that?

All that said, definitely bring it up casually and gauge her reaction before dragging her to the stage door after the show. I am just trying to point out that it's not as terrible an idea as everyone else seems to be saying.
