I agree with Melissa Erico Fan... MARLA SCHAFFEL.. She would be soooo brilliant. She looks the part and she could sing it! Def Marla Schaffel.

Dilly all the way, yo.
I'll probably be happy with anyone, honestly. I'm just so excited for it. But... I really want it to be Erin Dilly. She sets my heart ablaze.
Yeah. I said it.
I really think this could be a terrific role for Ashley Brown. Like it did for Laura Michelle Kelly, the role would take an up and coming star with limited experience and really launch their career.

Ruthie Henshall? She's here. She's terrific.
Jill Paice would also do a wonderful job, IMHO.
AShley Brown should to Little Mermaid...a bit to teeny bopper (in a good way, I do still like her) for Mary, imho.
I love her voice, though. Just not here.
I think Julia Murney could do this as well (though, as you can see by my avatar, I'de love her in just about anything haha.)

I agree... I think Jill would be great as Mary.
I'm still on the Jennifer Laura Thompson wagon, waving my banner, ignoring the fruit throwers.
I thought the producers were looking for a name that people off broadway would know. So I could see Kate Winselt but I would love to see Jennifer Garner take this role. Her show Alias is done this season....I think it is feasible

The first time I heard Marla Schaffel on "Jane Eyre" I thought she should play Mary Poppins if there was a musical. She would be my first choice.
If we are being serious I would chose either of these women
1.) Laura Michelle Kelly
2.) Ruthie Henshall
3.) Jennifer Laura Thompson
4.) Marie Osmond
5.) Laura Bell Bundy
6.) Erin Dilly
In NO order

Ruthie Henshall is in NYC right now and I'd like to think her friend Cameron is considering her to play the part.

Laura Michelle Kelly has a pleasant voice, but she didn't strike me too much as a Mary Poppins. Mary should have a lighter soprano...or maybe I am too used to Julie Andrews. Who, by the way, will ALWAYS be Mary Poppins.
They really, truly (no pun) need to announce this before my head explodes.

Joanna Gleason?
Charlotte D'amboise?
I think Kate Winslet would actually be a great choice.

Gretcha, I was talking with someone and also think Erin Dilly would make a good Mary Poppins. She reminds me of a young Julie Andrews.

They are most definitely going with an ingenue.
That being said, I think an ingenue in that role is a horrible idea.
But the Mary Poppins in the musical is more fierce than Julie Andrew's take on it. Erin Dilly might be more than a spoonful of sugar.
Marla Schaffel would be prrrractically perrrfect in every way...

Throwing in another vote for Marla Schaffel. If ever there was an American who can pull of an English nanny flawlessly, it's her. In particular I can imagine her pulling off not only the charm of the piece, but the mystique of the character as well. And she has amazing cheekbones.
