Update from Stephanie on PQ - straight from her website:
UPDATE!
So..as you may have heard and/or read...IT'S OFFICIAL! I am contracted to play the role of Grania O'malley in "The Pirate Queen". It has been several months of auditioning, flying to Ireland to work on the music and contract negotiations...but my name is now on the dotted line and I can announce my good news. Trust me, it's not easy keeping a secret of this magnitude ...especially when you're so excited. And I AM SO excited!!!
Grania O'mally was an Irish Clan chieftan and Pirate in the 1500-1600's. She's strong, firey and passionate. She is a true legendary figure and I am honored to bring such an extrodinary woman to life on stage.
Rehearsals begin in July and I believe my schedule starts with combat and double-sword fight training. I hope to look like Jennifer Garner by the time the show reaches Chicago:) The entire cast has not be announced, so that I am not at liberty to share. But the music is incredible and there is one song, "Because I Am A Wife", that has me belting like I've never belted before!
I'll post more as I know more. Until then, LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!
Much joy and strength,
Stephanie J.

Long Live the Queen:) That's for sure! :)
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block
Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

I toast with you both as well, and agree with Jasonf about the music! The thought of Stephanie belting Boublil and Schonberg makes me drool with anticipation of something absolutely astounding...Why isn't it October yet?

Reading Stephanie's message makes me so excited for this project! Though I'm not a huge fan of the composers, (don't like "Le Miz," but love "Miss Saigon") I know Steph will be great.

FOR SHE IS THE PIRATE QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!
HURRAH HURRAH FOR THE PIRATE QUEEN!
AND IT IS IT IS A BEAUTIFUL THING TO BE
THE PIRATE QUEEN!
Yay for Stephanie. I went and had coffee with her after a Boy From Oz performance and she was so sweet and wonderful. Turns out she and I had some friends in common as she used to work at Disneyland in Anaheim. She was telling me her stories of when she originated Belle in the Theme Park show there and how Eden became the understudy in the San Francisco run of Wicked. What a wonderful woman.
