I can also imagine her choosing to take a break as some have suggested. If not, I'm sure we'll find out what her next professional move is soon enough. She isn't one to sit still for too long.
I honestly don't picture her replacing anyone in any of the shows currently running, including WICKED. If we're discussing revivals, however, I know she wants to do a Sondheim musical... particularly the part of the Baker's Wife in INTO THE WOODS. And, of course, Fanny in FUNNY GIRL! She's spoken about wanting to revive that role many times.
"blaxx is absolutely correct. The Boy From Oz recouped its investment."
The Boy from Oz was a success. It ran for a good amount of time and closed only because Hugh Jackman was departing and he was irreplaceable.
"As much as I adore SJB, I could not see her playing Diana in N2N."
I really like Stephanie, but I'm not sure Diana in "Next to Normal" would be a good rle for her. I'm not sure if I would fell any pain for the character if I saw her sing "I mIss the Mountains."
I adore SJB and can imagine her doing a good job as Mary Poppins. But Diana in N2N? No way, she's not edgy enough for that role. There needs to be a shimmer of imperfection and I find SJB too "picture perfect".
" I assume she'll do: A. Return to Elphaba (Maybe after Donna leaves) B. Focus on her recording career C. Take a break and relax D. Play Judy in 9 to 5 tour E. other "
A. No. B. Maybe. C. Quite possibly. D. No. E. Yes.
I know they are work-shopping the new Rebbecca musical with Pia Douwes as Ms. Danvers, but I would love to see Stephanie J. Block in this role. She so intense onstage and vocally the role would be amazing with her voice! Just a thought!

Julia Murney & Ana Gasteyer were both 40 when they did the show. Not to mention Stephanie did it JUST last year. I don't think she rapidly aged in a year.
