I think Stephanie is great. Love her voice, her new album, and her acting in Boy From Oz deserved a Tony nomination at least (saw Boy From Oz MANY times - considered an "Ozalot" at the time).... Also saw her in Pirate Queen (not a great show though), at Birdland a few times, and 9 to 5 (good show). Missed her in Wicked, would like to catch her there if she ever returns to it. I think she'll be great as Grizabella!.
Anyway, I like her!
I admit - I'm still a little bitter that she got replaced in WICKED at the eleventh hour.
There. I said it...
Eleventh hour? She did one reading. You make it sound as if she was replaced the week before opening.
I hope she just screams all her lines.
Well said, Ken.

sort of a random question but do you think Brown will ever do wicked? if so Glinda or Elpheba?
"Eleventh hour? She did one reading. You make it sound as if she was replaced the week before opening."
I'm sorry adam, I should have been more clear. I'm not claiming to have any inside knowledge or anything, but it's my understanding that she was with WICKED for the readings, workshops and out of town tryouts. It was decided that Idina should replace her because at the time, SJB had no experience opening a show on Broadway - they wanted a more bankable star. I can't blame them for that. Just my opinion, but I think SJB has a stronger voice and that it's a shame she didn't get the opportunity to originate that role.
That's what I meant. :)

I think it's absurd that everyone on this site talks so much crap about Broadway performers. I thought this was a sight to honor performers, and learn about the latest info. This is why I visit the site, but hardly leave any comments or feedback.
People spend their entire day bashing each other, and other performers. Does anyone on this site like any performers at all, or is this site simply a way to pass your droll work day?
To those of you who are here to appreciate, more power to you.
For those of you who are here to hate on everyone and everything thing, re-examine what you're here to do, and why you even came to this site in the first place.
" but it's my understanding that she was with WICKED for the readings, workshops and out of town tryouts"
- Idina did the out of town tryout. Not SJB.

Your understanding is incorrect. SJB did exactly one workshop for the show- the very first one. Menzel was then brought on and did the next two workshops, plus the out of town tryout in San Francisco.
I think you're both wrong. SJB did the workshops and then got replace right before the San Fran tryouts
I thought this was a sight to honor performers
Why would you think that?
I think you're both wrong. SJB did the workshops and then got replace right before the San Fran tryouts
No, you are wrong. SJB did ONE workshop very early on, before being replaced with Menzel. Go look it up. There is also "archival footage" of Idina's workshop performances. Please do not speak about something you know nothing about.
Go to "that site" and search "Wicked workshops" and you will have your answer.

Believe me people, AdamGreer knows what he's talking about when it comes to this topic.
My mistake. I stand corrected. Thanks ljay and adam for clearing it up. I thought she had been involved with the project for awhile - I think I must have remembered something from this article from awhile back:
"Question: You've been involved with Wicked for years. How did you initially become attached?
Block: It was kind of a random phone call. It was back in February of 2000..."

I've never seen Cats and always been a little happy about that. Now, I'll need to re-visit that decision. I love SJB and heretofore thought I'd love to see her in anything she does.
Why, oh why did it have to be Cats?

I used to be obsessed with this show when I was 10 but I've outgrown it completely. That said, I would love to hear Stephanie's rendition of Memory!

That made me laugh a lot.
Will both of you please STOP IT or at least take it to PMs? It got old a long time ago.
