It could be a Prairie Home Companion Reunion.

Hell, throw Lily Tomlin into the mix as one of the sidekicks.

Meryl Streep's nearly 60. I seriously think they could have come up with another big name to do the show.

Yes, yes, the role of Donna is a carefully textured, dimensional, nuanced character that shouldn't be bastardized or in any way diluted merely to serve the needs of an actor like Meryl Streep. It's shocking, what they won't do to sell tickets. To think of a classic play ... baldly tampered with ... merely to allow an egotistical star to sing on the screen.

It's only January 11, and already this has the potential to become the Artistic Outrage of of 2007.

LMAO! Well that rules out Lohan, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton. I'm guessing Streep will have some say in who plays her daughter. After all, she had to watch Anne Hathaway's performance in Brokeback Mountain to see if she was a good enough actress to star opposite in Devil Wears Prada.

I didn't really like Mamma Mia, but I'd rent the movie just to see Meryl Streep.

I think Anne Hathaway would be a great choice for the daughter Sophie. She CAN sing and it would be a great reunion for all the fans of "The Devil wears Prada"!

They've been shooting interiors at the Pinewood Studios in London for the past several weeks. No paparazzi photos have surfaced due to them shooting inside a secure soundstage, etc.

Expect 'on location' photos to start appearing once they arrive in Greece to shoot exteriors, which should be sometime in early August (2007).

HAIRSPRAY had hords of paparazzi photos in the media since their 1st day of shooting which was simply because they began principal photography outdoors in Toronto. Once they went into the soundstages to shoot interiors, the photos stopped.
