and will apparently be introduced to the audience. Anyone going?
Sullenberger and crew to Broadway
Um, no.
Was there a need for the "um"??

It was wonderful that this man did his job, landed a plan in an emergency and saved lives.
But, I think this is going on too damn long. How many times does this man need to be honored?
I just hope no other pilots try something risky to get this sort of attention.
I don't think any other pilots would do that. No more lives need to be in danger or lost.
I think it's great for Sully and the flight crew. They did an amazing thing, and I hope they all enjoyed the show!
jennafan = jealous.
he deserves the honor and recognition.
this could have been a complete massacre, with everyone dead, if he had done anything differently that day.
I salute him and you should show respect, Jennafan.

I'm happy to know that bravery and positive actions are receiving so much acclaim these days. There are so many celebrities who gain their fame and fortune for bizarre lifestyles and immoral conduct that Sully and his crew are a refreshing change.

Agreed and agreed. And it's not even like he saved one guy like numerous "Subway Heroes" through the years - he saved an entire planeful of people.
amen
I agree, and hope that he, his wife, and the flight crew enjoyed the show!

If anyone has detailed information on his appearance or was in the audience for that day's performance, can you please send your information to my friend. He has a new blog about Broadway and is looking to post some details relating to this event. Thanks!

TheCharleston, you make no sense at all. How could I be jealous? I'm just saying enough is enough w/ this guy.
In a world where you can find fame and glory for appearing on reality TV ("it's what every pretty girl with no specific talent dreams of!") and showing the world your most stupid, ignorant, and offensive sides, it's absolutely amazing that we are currently making such a big fuss of someone who is a genuine hero. Sorry if lauding someone who *genuinely* deserves it is bothersome to you, but the world is not going to stop just because you have had your fill of honest-to-god heroism and would rather go back to chitchatting about pretty people singing and dancing on stages.
Weez - I love you.
Jennafan... I'm just saying. enough is enough w/ YOU
now let that sink in.
wait.
ok. move on.
"I just hope no other pilots try something risky to get this sort of attention."
This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read on this forum, and trust me on Broadwayworld that is *not* an easy feat.

quolbinau: i'm going to go you one better: jennafan's comment qualifies as the stupidest thing i've ever read in ANY forum.
i am a million miler with UA, and i've been a "1K" (top tier in their elite frequent flyer program) for 14 years; which is to say: i talk to FAs and fligh crew the way alcoholics talk to bartenders. absolutely, in a million years, no one in the cockpit would even think of grandstanding so wrecklessly ... not even in an idle moment. it's simply not in their DNA.
that comment was beyond stupid -- it was delusional.
Indeed. Get tired of Joe the Plumber. Get tired of Paris Hilton. Get tired of the douches from The Hills. Get tired of New York (the VH-1 starlet, not the city). Those vapid attention hogs' entire lives will never make as much impact as that few minutes of skill Sully demonstrated.
Sully can stay in the limelight as long as he damn well pleases.
"I just hope no other pilots try something risky to get this sort of attention"
Are you KIDDING ME? If you think in a million years anyone would do this to get 'this sort of attention' then you are beyond.....
Listen to the audio tapes they just released, hear the calm, the strength, professionalism, courage, presence of mind, etc...that he possessed. I hope EVERY pilot that flies a plane (particularly the flights I book) is cut from the same cloth as Captain Sully.
Amen singing back-up. I watched 60 Minutes last night and it was truly inspirational. I cannot imagine how he stayed so calm, but I'm glad he did!
*drumroll*
and the award for douche of the millennium goes to............
Jennafan!!
congratulations, you must be so proud to be such an ungrateful twat.

Screw you!
The only douch here is Pippin.
I was not calling anyone on here names and this ****forbrains came on to attack me... Grow the hell up! Freak!

well, darling, no one here wants to hear you opining that you are tired of hearing about an actual American hero being honored for saving over One hundred American lives, and in doing so bringing the nation together, injecting a new sense of hope and faith to millions of people all around the United States, and I'm sure many other countries around the world.
You are of course entitled to have an opinion, but sometimes our opinions of things need to stay in our heads and not make it into the public forum. Your timing and taste are poor.
oh, and btw, I'm so over the 9/11 firefighters and policemen still being honored for thier contribution and risk on that day. that was like, so 8 years ago. It's getting a little old. Yet, everytime I see a tribute plaque or poster in NYC honoring these men, I do a little eye roll, and tell myself that I hope no other fire fighters do something like that in an attempt to get publicity.
oh, and those soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan need to STFU, too. ooohh, I served my country, oohh, I risked my life everyday. BFD. I ate cheese past the expiration date today. I risked my life just as much. Where's my plaque?
Grow, up, and learn to show respect and honor where respect and honor are deserved. as many people on here have already said in response to your callous post, in a world where there are so many quasi-celebs who are famous on the basis that they are rich and attractive, this man actually does something amazing against many many odds, bringing him recognition, and you take it upon yourself to be bored by it.
