Sunday in the Park with George- is it worth seeing?
#1Sunday in the Park with George- is it worth seeing?

I'm going to be in the city to see WICKED (because Kerry Ellis joined), and I'm going to a matinée. I was thinking about getting a rush ticket to the evening performance of Sunday before I head to the Gershwin, is it worth seeing? Also, what exactly is it about?
I know I probably sound horrible not to know that much about it being that it's a Sondheim musical, but I'm much better with the newer shows.
I would appreciate any help....
where to sit...
if it's worth it...
the story....
etc.
thanks everyone.

Yes yes yes, absolutely.
Anything in the front mezz would be good, and the center rear mezz seats are good for the money.

Thanks so much everyone!
Mandi Moo, For the rush, all the tickets are the same price, if they have front row center stage orchestra, should I take it?

I doubt they'll have front row center orch. It's the Roundabout. Take whatever you can get.
It is absolutely worth it, no matter how much you pay for it or where you sit.

I've never sat in the orchestra, so I'm not sure. Personally, I think it'd be better to sit farther back in the middle-ish to get to see all of the projections.
ETA, yeah the rush seats will be up in the mezz.

I just looked at the tickets for the performance I'm going to rush, assuming the ticket is not sold by the time I get to the theatre...
is row DD (4th row) center mezzanine good? I know with some shows even if you are the first few rows in mezzanine you cant see unless your in the first row. What's the case with SITPWG?

I would think that you would be fine it that part of the mezz. The first (and only time thus far) I saw it I got a third row center ticket from TKTS.

Posted: 6/24/08 at 12:26amI am pretty sure that you should be fine. To be honest with you I am not sure that I am the best person on here to help you out with where to sit. I am not a seat snob and am just lucky that I am in the theatre seeing the show as oppose to not seeing the show at all.

sitpwg now holds the top contender as "my favorite broadway show i've ever seen"
replacing the sweeney revival.

Posted: 6/24/08 at 5:59amYes! Go see this show before it closes! The effects in this show alone are reason to go, as is the beautiful music. There is seriously not a bad seat in this house, so you can't go wrong!

FYI: General rush is only for rear mezz (the seats that are usually $50 and lower). Further up than that, and you'll need a student ID and you'll pay half of full price (so for front mezz, $61 or so).
Above all I'd say get as close to the center as possible. Mezz is great for this show, but I've sat middle of the rear mezz and on the side of the front mezz, and the projections are really more powerful from the middle.
Hope that helps. Seeing it for a 5th time tonight, 6th time for closing!
