Survey- worst show on broadway

I think if ACL and Les Miz were in their original runs they would be among the best. But I don't think their annonying younger brothers are quite worthy.

I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

Worst: Tarzan/Phantom of the Opera

Best: Grey Gardens. No question.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Tarzan is absolutely brilliant in its awfulness, but I going to say the worst is A Chorus Line, A pale shadow of the original.

....but the world goes 'round

Best: Considering I have only seen a few of the shows on Bway, I'd say Wicked. It will always be on top for me.

Worst: Um probably Tarzan, and Mamma Mia.

i think its dangerous to choose your worst after only a few opinions - it could swing very quickly.
and i hope that you're putting 'after a survey of (this many)theatregoers, the opinions were..."

It's hard to say because can we separate the show from its actors? I've been to see a musical that I thought was wonderful and gone back to see a different cast, only to think the show was dreadful. So much of a show depends on the actors and also how well they work together as an ensemble.

Well I haven't seen Tarzan but the worst show I've ever seen had to be Mamma Mia. Horrific!

The best- Grey Gardens

my "best" show is always changing. right now I'm most thrilled with Grey Gardens, Spring Awakening and Company. for worst in terms of creative writing I'd have to pick Wicked and Hairspray. They're fun to look at, but I could never get past how much I loath the book and lyrics for both.

To be fair I haven't seen Tarzan or Mamma Mia, so I can't say they're the worst...

Best: Grey Gardens (followed by Company and Spring Awakening). I don't know why you have it in your mind that ACL and Les Mis are among the best, but I (and many people here, it seems) disagree with that.

Not to change the topic or start a fight (and I'm really not picking a fight with any individual), but how can people say that Spring Awakening is the best while Wicked is the worst? Both are very watered daown versions of the oringal text that they're based on and have plently of "plot holes." Also, when I choose the worst, I didn't really take the cast into consideration (although when I saw Mamma Mia, before Carolee Carmello, the cast was pretty terrible).

Because Spring Awakening takes a whole new approach to the concept of what a "musical" is (aka the character singing their feelings, not necessarily moving the plot). Wicked is a big showy MUSICAL, that's enjoyable to watch but you don't get much out of it. That's how I feel anyway. And note, I didn't say Wicked was the worst show on Broadway.

Ahhh! I get what you're saying :) I liked the fact that it was so different as well, although I think I liked the fact that it was different over actually not using songs to further the plot.

i didn't think Spring Awakening was that "different". though i did enjoy it.

i'm in the "i-hate-Tarzan" boat.

Best: A tie between Phantom and Les Miz. You cant go wrong with the longest running.

I don't know what is the worst. Maybe what's making the least money every week, but that is not always the case.

Trust me, gymdudeva, even that gets boring and when it does, there's not much else to look at.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

ok, haha, thanks for the warning D2.

Why does it keep running if it is so bad? Ignorant tourists? Disney publicity machine? Name recognition?

i'm going to be unoriginal and say tarzan.

and also, husk charmer.. you say spring awakening is the worst? you're nuts! i know it's not everyone's 'style' persay.. but the WORST show on broadway? i think that's a but of a stretch, no?

for best out of the newer shows , i say spring awakening.. but jersey boys and.. i guess, wicked, are best material also.

=)

worst: toss up between Tarzan and A Chorus Line...

"Now she wants to know WHY, if I'm so fabulous, I would WANT to take care of her child.....I answer with as much filigree and insouciance as I can muster, trying to slightly cock my head like Snow White listening to the animals. She, in turn, is aiming for more of a Diane-Sawyer-pose, looking for answers which will confirm that I am not there to steal her husband, jewelry, friends, or child. In that order."
