re: Sweeney Todd Cast - Where Are They Now..Like, Really..Now

I always wondered, could an actor making 10-20 thou a week apply for unemployment?

(I'm asking in general, in theory.)

This is a fun thread.

I think some of them are probably still washing off eyeliner. That stuff accumulates over time.

I wonder if Ben shaved his muttonchops yet.

And I hope Patti kept the wig, I loved her bob.

"I think out of all of them, Mano will be the most...devastated. I swear I just saw him hanging at the stage door with a silver sharpie in his hand. "

Moxie, you are too funny!! Although, I think that Mano would be on his myspace typing away.

Or, like, a Sweeney Etch a Sketch kit or one of those magnetic pencil drawing things? You know, where it's just a bald head and you drag all these lead shavings to make eyeborws or hair or a mustache?

I imagine Mano with two browser windows open - one is MySpace, one is YouTube so he can watch the final curtain call over and over again. (TM someone way more funnier than me.)

I'm not trying to be mean. Well, that's not true. I kinda am. I'm just sort of turned off at the whole Sweeney Merchandising line that came from this show. For me, it cheapened the show. Reasonably priced stuff would be one thing, as Mano and Lauren aren't actually "brand-worthy" yet. But that stuff is way over priced for two relative unknowns.

Sorry, Mano. ('Cuz I think i just heard someone sending him a Myspace message directing him to this thread. )

I was talking at the stagedoor with the cast. Got some info.

Patti - Rise and Fall
Michael - Working with band
Benjamin - Taking a break
Diana - Unsure
Donna Lynne - Lawnchair and then a NEW PROJECT! which she can't talk about because casting is not yet complete.

Benjamin and Donna are the only Sweeney Alum I'll pay to see in private gigs. (Other than Cerveris.) I wonder if they get paid for those things?

I so, so hope Bejamin gets another steady gig. That guy is a find.

"They will all most likely hit the unemployment agency and apply for unemployment as every unemployed performer does."

That's absolutely reprehensible. These are people who CHOSE to go into a field where the work is not nor has it ever been constant. I hope this comes out of a fund that isn't supported by taxpayers.

hmmm let me consult my stalker/slam book planner.... right. You stalker people are really scary. Who cares where they go as long as they get their crap and get out?

And as far as the unemployment, actors pay taxes like the rest of us. They can sponge all they want, and don't for a second think someone like Lupone doesn't file for her $405 per week. Though she probably makes more than that in residuals per week as it is so she may not be eligible.

I've never been to any of the personal gigs of anyone from this show. Is it worth the money or is it basically like a David Cassidy concert?

If Benjamin Magnuson does another gig, GO. It is absolutely worth the money. His was by far the most polished, wonderful solo musical performance out of any of the Sweeney actors.

Donna Lynne's is also very much worth the money. What you saw at The Bowery is only a small fraction of what you get in her "Finishing The Hat" gigs. The woman is a force of nature. (Her next gig, by the way, is at Ars Nova on October 1)

Hahahahaha. The Mano-sharpie-stage door thing made me laugh. I can see him just like, pacing back and forth muttering to himself with his SPAM tshirt and his sad little backpack on. Awwww.

I liked the tshirt, but hell to the no I'm not going to pay $30 for it. I think it would be great if I cut it up and redid it a little but that just sort of defeats the purpose. And Lauren's shirt was cute but that brown poo color was such a bad choice, it would only look good on a few people.

Awww, you guys -- poor Mano!

I bought one of Lauren's t-shirts. But I didn't have to pay for shipping or anything extra like that. And really, I only need one Sweeney Todd shirt.

I've said this before, but Benjamin Magnuson's was my favorite of all the performances at the Bowery concert. So from what little I've seen, I would agree with Chica.
