re: 'Sweeney Todd' Official Movie Site Up

Damn, I was hoping they'd have pictures.

Still, cool. I can't wait to see what they'll have on the site.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I wouldn't call that up -- it's just a main page and that's it. Nothing more.

Can't wait for the MAMMA MIA! movie site, though.

I don't like the logo they're using...

Seriously - THAT'S the official site? The description of the movie could have been written by a seventh grader...and I should know...
Hi, Shirley Temple Pudding.

"Official site coming soon"

Umm. Not the official site.

Also often they will change the logo throughout production and don't decide on a final one until closer to release.

In reply to jasonf:

And maybe by a seventh grader who KNOWS THE LYRICS!!! The Web site says "...shaves the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again." As we all know, it's "...shaves the faces of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard of again."

These are the third and fourth lines of the opening number. If this is indicative of the dedication and detail to which Warner Bros. is committed, I am very afraid... Very...

Lyrics in movies are always changed. And, of course that's not the official site! It's the same as the "Hairspray" site was before it actually launched its official site.
"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster. "Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."

Ok,

A. Just the holder site
B. While I like the logo, its very likely it can change
C. There are a million reasons it could say heads instead of faces

I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

"The Web site says "...shaves the heads ..."

I'd heard a while ago that this lyric was changed for the movie. Apparently (not saying I agree) they felt that young audiences today would not be familiar with the concept actually going to a barber to have their face shaved. Whereas the concept of going to a barber for a head shave would be more familiar to them.

I took this as just another of many rumors surrounding this movie. But now that I see the lyric change in print on their "official site" I wonder if it's not true.

Will they do anything with "What happened next? Well, that's the play"?
"I'm thinking about how if you took the W in answer, and the H in ghost, and the extra A in aardvark, and the T in listen, you could keep saying WHAT but no one would ever hear you because the whole word would be silent." "Will they do anything with "What happened next? Well, that's the play"? "

I really love that line for some reason, but they'd have to change it, wouldn't they? Unless they start on a stage, a la Rent. Let's hope to God they won't.
Hear the words I sing: war's a horrid thing. So, I sing sing sing... Ding a ling a ling.

That'd be lame, but I'd completely understand their reasoning. Hopefully they use the music from the Ballads in the opening and closing credits though.

re: 'Sweeney Todd' Official Movie Site Up

"I've heard rumors that the ballad sections have been cut entirely."

Those rumors aren't true. The only reason they popped up in the first place is because of Christopher Lee and the other Ballad ghosts getting cut from the movie. There is no doubt in my mind that the ballads will be there and that Burton has something great in mind with them.

Since the site is up, I guess this means that photos and a teaser are on the way.
