I am not a fan of this show, but i thought their performance at the Tonys was really good. I guess i just like to disagree with people? Everyone is saying that their performance was not good. I thought they did an awesome job and this show will be around for a long time. Its running costs are very inexpensive, so it will be around for awhile. The show is making enough money to keep the show running and the Tony performance was great and will boost sales.
I thought the performance was amazing, but I'm not a fan of their song choices.

I thought the medley was done extremely well.
The way they switched from one song to the next. But I agree, they could have done better songs. But I guess they wanted to show off each nominee.
They should have done A Little Priest, IMO.

I thought they were going to do God, That's Good just because it showcased their three nominees but I think their performance was great and did a great job of highlighting their nominees and showing people who haven't seen the show what it's like.

Michael Cerveris said in an interview on Sirius that the reason they didn't do A Little Priest was because they did it for the Drama Desk and they wanted to do something different. I thought the medley was well put together. I do hope that this show sticks around a good, long while. I saw it back in March and loved it.

I adore Sweeney. I wasn't fond of the medley, but they all performed well. Watching it on the TV screen is nothing like being in the front of the orchestra at the Eugene O'Neill!
Twas ok. I'm not a fan of medleys and I thought some of the transitions were abrupt-ish, but it was the best performance of the revivals (altho, gotta admit, I thought Alan & Cyndi sounded fantastic...even tho Cyndi *really* needed to tuck her ass back into her costume).
I thought Sweeney did an excellent job. What amazed me more is how they easily should have been the one cast that might have screwed up onstage, due to the switching around of all the different parts; but they were fantastic. And the easy pie Phantom tribute got messed up.
It was a hell of alot better than Pajama Game's medley.
I thought it was a pretty good performance, although I wish they would have just done The Ballad of Sweeney Todd uncut, but I understand they wanted to feature Cerveris and LuPone.
P.S.: Really Muscle, you're not a fan of the show? No kidding? I had no idea! I mean, its not like you stated that OVER AND OVER on this board, or anything...
Wouldnt A Little Priest bee too long for the Tony Awards?

I thought the performance was great - it showed how innovative the production was and it really stood out. Tony award or not, this is a really interesting production. I thought it was nice not to make it too much about Patti but to showcase the entire cast much as the show does.
I thought it was a fabulous performance. They are just so talented.

Their performance creaped me out. I went from "hmm...should I see it?" to "YES! I'M GOING TO SEE IT!" I thought it was the best performance from revivals...the other two were a bit yawnish, although very good.

I LOVED IT!
My favorite part was when Michael stood up on the coffin and drenched the whole thing with spit.
Okay, not really, but I really liked the transitions from one song to the next.
Ughh I really, really, really wish my mom would let me see this.
It is my favorite show on Broadway right now, but i thought Radio City was way too big for this version of the show. I thought they did the best they could.
I was surprised by the song choices. Not half as surprised as I was when a piece of cotton candy won over a steak for Best Musical Revival, but surprised nonetheless.

I didn't particularly like the cuts they chose. I don't know how well that mish mash of a medley would have played to those unfamiliar with the show.
But I thought the performances within were all fabulous.
I loved the performance. Loved the close ups...very scary. although i wished they played "Not While I'm Around" since they played it when they were about to go into commercials.
I wish they had done one song, but I can understand why they chose not to. I thought some of the transitions were a bit awkward, but the performance was great, IMO.
Yero- why won't your mom let you see it?
It was a great performance, though a little abrupt... And I wish they'd have done the Opening or closing Ballad with the entire cast singing verses, etc. highlighting Mano, Patti and Michael

I really like the medly, though I was hoping for some other songs, but I liked the overall haunting feeling that it gave.

I loved it. I thought it was great and the medley worked very well. I didn't understand a damn thing Pattie Lupone was saying, but that's more cause of the song than her.
Pajama Game was okay, I wouldn't want to see the show (I mean, I'd see it, but I'm not dieing to see it). But 3Penny Opera's whole scene was just ...yawn... I don't even know what was going on or what they were saying. I didn't understand a single lyric.

You thought that Threepenny's scene was yawn?
I thought it was very interesting...not even knowing what the show is about!
