It's officially happening, folks. And What. A. Cast!

Will definitely be seeing this one in December. Any predictions on a theatre? My money is on the Golden, Belasco, or Lyceum.

I can dig it. I'm a big fan of His Girl Friday, but I've never seen the source material on stage. And I love John Slattery like something fierce.

It's one of a handful of great American plays, and one of a tiny handful of great American comedies. Hugely exciting, and it will be interesting to see it in a world where print journalism has all but died out.

The musical version of this, Windy City, only played in London and never came to Broadway.

The source says it will have an approximately five-month run, so even if that includes a month of previews prior to the Oct. 20 opening, I would think it should be around through at least mid-February.

I read original that Billy Crudup had played Hildy in a reading, and really got excited.  I thought he and Lane would have been great together.  Even though he is not that much younger than Lane, he seems younger than he is.  Slatted, to me, seems older than he is.  I always felt the Relationship between the two leads was a little of older man trying to get the younger whipper snapper to submit.  Not sure that will work as effectively with Lane / Slattery.  

Oh, well.  It still has a great cast and I am ready to purchase tickets whenever they go on sale.  There won't be any discounts for this one.

"The Front Page, Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur’s classic 1928 comedy set in the world of the Chicago newspaper business, will open on Broadway on October 20, 2016, directed by Jack O’Brien. The production will begin previews on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, and will play a limited engagement through Sunday, February 5, 2017. The theatre will be announced at a later date. "

I can't believe I missed when this was announced. Words cannot express the joy I'm experiencing from this. I've been wanting John Goodman to return to the stage for YEARS!!

This looks fun and great cast.  I may finally get to see Lane in a  comedy.   His understudy went on when I attended both The Producers and It's Only a Play.

Actually Lane did the Edna role in the demo CD cuts for the show before it hit the boards.

How are sales going so far? I feel like the buzz on this show has been pretty low, despite the size of its names.

Evenn the supporting cast seems to have some solid theatre and other famous names in it.

Dann Florek (LAW & ORDER: SVU), Christopher McDonald, and Dylan Baker to name a few
