I saw a makeshift stage being set up for something at 6 PM; does anyone know what it is? I’d guess it’s some sort of post-show thing following the Actor’s Fund performance this afternoon to mark their 25th anniversary on Broadway.

I have no idea about the answer but might I suggest that "Question" is a very useless subject line for a thread, and one that causes people who, like me, have nothing to offer on the content to waste time opening it. Specificity is kinda the intention of having a subject line, no?

Just to follow up - there was an hour of music hosted by Lebo M and a number of fantastic TLK vocalists. That was after the show as the audience was coming out, also after a post-show performance they had onstage with every young Simba & young Napa that’s been in the show over the past 25 years.

It's fascinating to see the parade of white creatives on the red carpet. This show would never be made today with that team.

The audience also got a nice chuckle during Julie Taymor’s speech, when she was talking about the “men and women” on the creative team. She looked around and realized there were only two women (including her) amongst ten men and goes, “uh, yeah, there’s a few of us…”
The show really is something special that could have only happened in the time that it did - and the fact that it’s still running 25 years later is amazing. They’ve employed thousands of people all over the world and it’s still going strong.
I do hope they rotate a new Lead into the Pridelands soon because…it’s just an interesting choice to have your main character be the weakest link, especially amongst the incredible performers who have done the role over the years. Made me miss Jason Raize all over again.

I believe there's still 3 original cast members in the show. They did a NPR tiny desk concert last week and it was beautiful.

I always wonder for long running shows like Wicked, Phantom, Lion King, Hamilton., etc, who is there who has been there since the run first started!
