Too bad. I really enjoyed this play.

Posted: 6/14/12 at 7:16pmI really enjoyed it, but I'm not surprised, it never really had 'long run' written all over it. Great to see Lavin and Latessa and though I haven't been since he left, I can't imagine there wouldn't be a big Esper shaped hole left.

Posted: 6/15/12 at 10:36amWhy "too bad?" Every play closes sometime. They were lucky to get a Broadway transfer, I'd say, and I enjoyed it. But I certainly wouldn't expect it to run a year...

I really love this play, and think it's one of the funniest thing I've ever seen in a long time, but I went for one last time the other night and found Kate Jennings Grant absolutely God awful. She overreached and overacted the whole time. Has she always been like this? I didn't notice it the other time I went, maybe because I was caught up in the brilliance of Lavin and Nicky Silver.
The rest of the cast were all quite wonderful, and of course, Lavin is supreme.

Posted: 6/17/12 at 7:34pmWhat a shame. It was a very nice production. I saw it twice and loved it both times. But, as some others said, it really never was expected to be the longest running show on Broadway.

Posted: 6/17/12 at 9:34pmHere, I'll break it down for you, jv: something can either be one of the funniest thing (sic) you have ever seen, OR it can be one of the funniest thing (sic) you've seen in a long time. But it can't be both.
