It doesn’t look half bad. But why can’t it be on Peacock or Netflix?
I’m just glad we’re finally getting it but it is odd that it isn’t on a streaming platform associated with DreamWorks.

Being filmed live in London's West End adds to the excitement, as it allows audiences to immerse themselves in the grandeur of the production. With a cast and orchestra of 60 performers, "The Prince of Egypt: The Musical" is set to be one of the biggest musicals ever staged, promising a truly spectacular experience.
Oh it was dreadful on stage
One of the worst evenings I've ever had in the theatre, although there are moments of staging and a couple of songs that might make it worth at least seeing once.
I still can't believe Scott Schwartz got to waste this gorgeous score after what he did to Hunchback, after all those years of waiting. Like a bad Sunday School pageant.
Nepotism is a hell of a drug.
The Schwartz family loves "story theatre" as a genre marker. It seems to have taken significant executive meddling to keep Wicked as a representational show; if I recall the LA version had a lot more story theatre elements to it. Expecting them to NOT create a show in that format is a losing bet.
That's true. Though there's a way to do story theater that invites the audience in on the magic rather than condescending to them and treating them like dim children. Thinking of Peter and the Starcatcher or Nicholas Nickleby. Neither of these were that. They didn't have the imagination.
This plays in Canadian Cineplex theatres this coming weekend.
But after the above comments I'm not sure it is worth seeing?

I loved the animated film....excited to see this new version. I didn't see it onstage in the UK.
Wonder if there are plans/hopes to bring it to USA.

Such a beautiful score
And this looks so so bland and overly sentimental and not compelling at all.
Maybe the score was really just best served by the film?

I just watched this on Blu-Ray. Figured since the show is available for licensing now I should check it out as potential material for my community theatre.
It runs into a lot of the problems you might expect from turning a sub-2 hour animated movie into a 2-hour stage show, namely a lot of scenes and songs that feel like padding. The first act especially feels slow and aimless. Luke Brady as Moses is charming enough, but the book doesn't really give him anything interesting to dig into dramatically for long stretches of the runtime. Liam Tamne as Ramses is dull as dishwater, only really coming to life thanks to his chemistry with Brady. Christine Allado as Tzipporah brings much-needed life and energy to the show in an appealingly fierce performance.
There are some cool moments of choreography and stagecraft, but they mostly serve to hide how dramatically inert the show is. The only time the characters really feel like they're doing something special is in the second act when Moses is overtly conflicted over his role as prophet - Luke Brady is much more effective in those scenes. The songs returning from the movie are still bangers - "Through Heaven's Eyes" and "When You Believe" especially - but none of the new songs come close to measuring up.
This one will almost certainly have a long life in community and church theatres, and that's probably where it belongs. For professional groups there are countless better options out there.

I think Moses' 11 o'clock "For The First Time in My Life" is stunning, and "Heartless" quite beautiful too.

I actually think some of the new material measures up much better than a lot of other stage versions of animated musicals. Seti's Return/Return to Egypt, Dance to the Day, the burning bush sequence, and Simcha in particular. But a lot of the rest of it is sappy forgettable garbage. I tend to forgive it though give how incredible all of the movie songs are.
