		     			And a great speech!

It's been 29 years!

And she just gave shoutouts to the real Rose and all the other divas who've played her, on the thank you cam.

It's almost as good as watching the ceremony proper. Almost. Honest.

*weeps*

that totally made the "thank you cam" worth it!!
		     			And a great speech!

It's been 29 years!"

SHUT UP! It's been 28 YEARS!

Agreed, Fantastic performance, great speech, wonderful diva!

Her only downfall of the night was her clapping along with Rent! Oh well, I guess she couldn't have it ALL.

great performance, great actress, awful speech IMO. is she really as obnoxious in real life as that speech made her sound? her rapid fire thank yous peppered with her complaining about how it's been 28 years was totally lame. i really almost wish she didn't win (even though she deserved it), just to see if she went on a murderous shooting spree in the radio city music hall when somebody else got the award.
Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one that was wondering about her clapping during Rent.

But otherwise, YAY for Patti!

I think her "what the hell is going on" face during RENT was obviously in response to the HORRIBLE sound job that was going on with the microphones. I was doing the same thing at home.

Yay Patti! She's had this coming since Evita.

And what musical is she going to do after Gypsy? There aren't that many musical roles for a woman her age. She hasn't been a new musical in years! To be a major star, an actor has to created new roles. For most of her career, Patti has made do with seconds.
She WAS going to star in a new David Mamet musical. I don't know if it will be resurrected though.

She created the role of Norma Desmond in 1994.

And Patti is a Broadway legend. So what's your point?

I am so, so happy for her. What a great speech.
		     			Agree, Wanna Be

She could sing Rubber Duckie and show how much she is a star.

Seconds?! Bah!

She took forever to unfold that paper. Made me nervous, don't know why.

That was FOURTEEN YEARS AGO!

I am so happy - well deserved.
That was the best moment of the night for me.

Note that the ferocity of the "SHUT UP! IT'S BEEN 29 YEARS" did succeed in keeping them from cutting her off! I want to know what would have happened if they had!

		     			Flippin' fantastic!

Although I have to say, the envelope opening was the most stressful three seconds of my life.

LUPWNED.

A Director- Just last year, Patti created the role of Anne in To Hell and Back at the Ravinia festival. And in 1997, she created the role of Jolly on Broadway.
