Posted: 6/10/07 at 7:53pmNo surprises, except, to a degree, Orchestrations. I was hoping for the great Jonathan Tunick to snag a second trophy, but, oh well. Here's to a good (and Grey Gardens filled) show!

Posted: 6/10/07 at 8:24pmTesting... Wasn't Crudup kind of a surprise? I didn't see any of Coast, but I love his other work. So I was happy for him.

I'm pretty sure Crudup won the Drama Desk, so therefore was the fave to win the Tony...
Please correct me if I'm wrong, which is a huge possiblity.

I think he was the overwhelming fave, Jordan... Didnt see
"Coast....", but he had to be pretty amazing to beat out
Chisholm.
I have not seen a better performance this year than Chisholm's
in "Radio Golf".

Ok. I guess I'd just read so much of the praise for Journey's End I didn't realize it.
Thanks.

Posted: 6/10/07 at 8:31pmIt's too bad the great Doug Wright lost, but Steven Sater seemed so happy. Good for him. I just hope he and Shiek don't win for score, though we all know they will.

Posted: 6/10/07 at 8:34pmI am so happy for John Gallagher, Jr.! I didn't really want Spring Awakening to win best book...I have a feeling this is going to win almost all of the categories it was nominated in.

Posted: 6/10/07 at 8:51pmI am thrilled with the winners this evening! I am so pleased that William Ivey Long won for his innovative costume design in GREY GARDENS. I am in complete awe at John Gallagher Jr.'s much deserved win and beautiful speech. Congrats to Mary Louise Wilson for finally receiving a way overdue Tony Award, and for such a brilliant performance in GREY GARDENS. This is a beautiful night thus far!

Posted: 6/10/07 at 8:54pmARE YOU KIDDING ME?! SA for best Choreography? Seriously. I mean really? Don't joke.
#20re: TONY WINNERS
Posted: 6/10/07 at 8:57pmyeah I'm getting highly annoyed that SA is winning EVERYTHING. I mean I do think they should win some things, but common on...share the awards.

Posted: 6/10/07 at 8:58pmYay!! Jenifer Ehle was so amazing! Even though Plimpton was great Ehle just showed so many levels in three different characters. Tony Awards redeemed themselves, although slightly, for the onslaught of Spring Awakening awards.

Posted: 6/10/07 at 9:07pmI was fine until Spring Awakening won best choreography...Looks like it is going to sweep. Congrats to Jennifer Ehle!!

Posted: 6/10/07 at 9:08pmBill T. Jones created some of the most innovative and out-of-the-box choreography Broadway has ever seen. I understand how it divides people, because it is completely non-traditional. But that's what makes it stand out. And the non-traditional nature of all aspects of SPRING AWAKENING is a major reason why the show divides many. I am thrilled for Bill T. Jones and the entire SPRING AWAKENING team for taking risks and not being afraid to shake things up for a change. Brava to innovative, genre-bending shows for opening new doors in musical theatre and for following nobody's rules but their own.

Posted: 6/10/07 at 9:16pmTotally agree, Foster. I think people who are wanting the traditional big dance breaks aren't too happy but luckily the Tony voters saw something completely different and original. Mary Louise Wilson! Amazing speech, funny, and heartfelt. John Gallagher, you deserve it buddy.
