It's A Chorus Line for cryin' out loud.
I'd pay double to get a ticket.

I can't believe this. Why, why, why do people feel the need to start threads like this?! *sigh* Ugh. The show hasn't even opened yet and we are speculating on it's demise? Please.
Anyway...
They are not planning any changes to the staging, costumes, ect. The cast is superb. The show is superb. It ran for 15 plus years previously.
People are excited for revival this.
It is going to bring it to a whole new generation. It's an open run. The sky is the limit as far as I'm concerned!

Posted: 7/19/06 at 3:04pmWonderBoy, you think *this* revival is too soon? It's been 16 years since ACL closed. What about Les Mis? That's barely outside the 2-year limit for revivals on Broadway. At least ACL will actually reach another generation.

I understand where you are coming from. I was just making a very broad statement re the discussion at hand
Yes it was a breakthrough musical visa vie its subject matter

There are too many people excited for this for it to close very soon after it opens. It's an iconic show, and there are tons of people who love the recordings but have never seen a production.
I'm curious to see it.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 3:55pmBSO, it will have been 3.5 years total. Outside the limit, yes, but dramatically less than 16 years, so I think WonderBoy's "too soon" complaint is ridiculous in comparison.

According to Talkin' Broadway:
"When the show is sold out, standing room tickets are available on the day of the performance at the box office for $26.25"

Orangeskittles, don't even get me started on LES MIS coming back too soon! That's not really a revival as much as the tour doing a stop in town for a few months with some new casting. I find it all kinda odd to say the very least.
Like I said before, I love and adore ACL. I have been in it several times and worked with ACL legends and people from the tape sessions but I don't have faith that it will be a smash hit again. I mean think about the fact that you can go see the exact same thing practically at any regional theatre across the country and pay half or less than half of a Broadway ticket. I sincerely want the revival to be successful but I am apprehensive in believing that it will be. We shall see and I hope that I am wrong.
PS: harris007 - not sure if you were addressing me in your last comment but you may wish to check out my previous posts and background before jumping to conclusions.

I don't think it's the exact same thing since not all regional theatres have productions as good as what is on Broadway. I saw "ACL" last year in San Jose (regional production). It was slow paced and the performers could either act or sing or dance but not do all three very well.

Ok, so let's review, and then NO ONE post in this thread again so it can die.
Ozarkelphaba is a dumbass waste of time creating useless, negative threads about shows that haven't opened and despite her "wisdom of the future" is advancing tremendously.
Is that about it?

Okay, cool. Thanks, I just wanted to make sure.
Jimnysf, I know what you mean but I am just looking at it as a non-New Yorker/Broadway person would. Does that make any sense? Besides, who is to say that the same won't be true for this production. Granted it is highly unlikely but who knows. I mean this whole thread is kinda ridiculous as it is all just speculation.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 4:58pmThanks, jimnysf, that's exactly my point. I've *only* seen ACL in regional/community theater productions. I've wanted to see a Broadway production of this show since I was 9 years old, because I could just tell the show could have been so much better than what I'd seen.

My final say:
I am shocked and appaled at the behavior here. I had an opinon, I expressed it, it is fine to disagree, but to attack my opinon based on a screen name as some have (Yes, I like Wicked, I find it to be a good show, and at the time, it was my big musical love), or to call me a dumbass for having such an opinon is uncalled for. The typo I will concede to, I have always had that problem when typing Chorus.
It saddens me to see that my opinion, which is valid is being attacked as it is.
Anyhow, that's my final say on this, agree with me, disagree with me, whatever.

Ah but OzarkElphaba, it was more than opinion that you stated with the following:
"But with tickets being what they are, no student discount or SRO seats available, I'll be suprised."
I provided a link earlier in this thread to Taklin' Broadway which states that there will in fact be SRO seats available.
#70re: Taking Bets on when the Chours Line revival closes!
Posted: 7/19/06 at 5:48pmYes, and the last I had been told, there weren't SRO tickets being made available. I do apologize for that.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 6:15pmAlso there is a difference in posting a thread like "How Will ACL Do on Broadway?" or "Concerns for ACL on Bway" or even "Thoughts on ACL on Broadway" and "Taking Bets on when the Chours Line revival closes!" You need to realize the power of phrasing and words. Your statement was aggressive and blatant. Remember, some actors read these boards and that sounds very negative.

Posted: 7/19/06 at 6:54pmACL will not close very soon. People are way too excited. I have a friend who travels every years to NY from CA. I always give her recommendations as to what she should see, but every year she blows off my suggestion and goes to see Phantom AGAIN! She and her husband weren't planning on going to NY this year, but when I mentioned that A Chorus Line was being revived and tickets were going on sale the next day, she called her hubby, booked her plane and hotel and bought her Chorus Line tickets the minute they went on sale. People love this show. They will go and see it two, three, four times or more if it's good. As a matter of fact, I have bought two sets of tickets for the show for my week-long trip in November--one set for our first night in town and one set for our last night in town.
