Thankful For The Ability To Exchange

While I understand it took a pandemic to get this ability, Im so thankful that there is currently flexibility in exchanging tickets for different dates because I just had to reschedule a 2-show Wednesday at the end of October for a medical procedure and if I wasnt able to, I wouldve been out nearly $150 for my tickets.
My question is, once we attain a post-pandemic state of Broadway, do you think they will allow this practice to continue? I feel like it would be a great idea from a customer service standpoint. (Let me be clear: I am NOT talking about refunds)

Yes, I hope exchanges will be here to stay (within reason –– maybe the cutoff is like a week before showtime) with the refund privileges going away after Covid. Though I have also enjoyed the ability to get things refunded if I buy early and have second thoughts or find a cheaper deal.

Whenever I went to the box office before pandemic they gave me the ability to exchange tickets for a later date after kindly asking them.
Not sure if I just got lucky or not with the box office person.

I assume it will depend on how much chaos is caused (if any) by the exchange process and how it affects the number of seats sold. I can see people complaining if they can't get similar seats on a different day or if there are price fluctuations. As long as you only email "tickets" around the performance date, I don't see an issue with the technology or resale scams but maybe I'm missing something.
Hopefully if everything runs smoothly, they'll allow it to continue. Aside from discounts, it's one of the only incentives for me to buy tickets in advance if I think there's going to be good availability around the performance date.

I think you’ve just had nice box office people each time! I’ve been offered to exchange once but didn’t accept since I was at the theatre anyway. Long story short- Amtrak delays and got to the theatre at like 2:45 for a 2pm matinee. The box office said I could either exchange or enter. The next train home wasn’t until after 5pm anyway so I went in.
