"According to a Macy's spokesperson, cast members from Sweet Charity, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Jersey Boys will perform on the program. Sweet Charity will offer "I'm a Brass Band," Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will perform "Great Big Stuff," the company of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will sing "Toot Sweet" and Jersey Boys will present a medley of "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," "Walk Like a Man" and "Who Loves You."
Tony Award winners Tommy Tune and Kristin Chenoweth will also be featured during the annual telecast. Tune will be seen on Animal Planet's "Animal Wonders" float, performing "Talk to the Animals" from Doctor Dolittle. Chenoweth will be part of the "Oklahoma Rising" float, singing the title song from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!"

I'm surprised they're doing Great Big Stuff considering they beeped out parts at the Tonys.
I don't like "I'm a Brass band."
"Toot Sweets" is a good choice.
Excited to hear the cast of Jersey Boys.

Posted: 11/10/05 at 4:05pmGreeat Big Stuff has more appeal to be honest. Dirty Rotten Number gives away plot points in a way. But yeah, there is going to be a need for some censoring...

"I'm a Brass Band" has the be the laziest of Cilento's work in Charity next to "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This". Why they showcase it so much is beyond me.

Posted: 11/10/05 at 4:31pmTouche Annie. Well, I guess GBS just matches the Thanksgiving spirit (Great Big Turkey and stuffing) than DRN (who wants a dirty rotten turkey?)

All of my kinfolk from out in the hinterlands thought that Great Big Stuff bombed terribly at the Tony awards. Even more will be watching the parade and I can't imagine it being any more popular with them. I think it's hysterical - particularly when you see it live on stage. Most folks I talked to just thought it was crude.
I think that the entire story of DRS is well known now and performing Dirty Rotten Number won't be a bit of a spoiler for anybody. Here I Am, Like Zis/Like Zat, Nothing is Too Wonderful, are also all good choices.
A click for life.

Maybe it's the fact that Norbert was the Tony winner this year? I realize they could be all "John Lithgow this, John Lithgow that"... but they're not. And I kinda like it.

it's one of the nations biggest and most famous parades -- you'll not an attempt at theming -- Brass Band, Great Big Stuff -- part of the Biggest parade....
I am surprised they are showcasing CHitty with a closing notice -- but it is a family show...

Then at 9am they start to do them for the first hour until the parade reaches herald square. Sadly you can watch them beacuse they face a camera and trucks, and the seats behind them are reserved for macys and nbc folk. Things might have changed but this is how they have done it in the past. As for cbs they are usually pre taped in advance ar different locals, sometimes with advertisment to when and where.

Focus on the Family may be out in force during the parade, spreading its message of hate. Take these stress balls and throw them where they belong - in the trash.
"Antigay Colorado group Focus on the Family said Tuesday that its members plan to distribute 5,000 "stress balls" along the parade route to promote a Web site it operates that claims that homosexuality is a disorder that can be changed through faith. Visitors to the site, TroubledWith.com, who think they might be gay or lesbian are told, "You're not simply 'wired that way.'" In another section, visitors are told that being gay or lesbian can be prevented because "like other adult problems, homosexuality begins at home. Mom and dad are key players." Also to blame are porn, the media, and "seduction by peers."
Far right group to use Macy's parade to spread antigay message
