I'm watching in Australia.

I'm on it. It may be craptacular, but damn , Trisha can sing
I've been watching, not really enjoying it at all. It's just random songs with narration in between.
So many Holy Hipsters....
I don't understand why none of Jesus' material has actually been live, it's been like a music video but they're wearing microphones on their faces for some reason.
Those people in the crowd must be so bored...at least in theory they would get to see a fun live show, but standing there watching a musical video would be very dull.

It's like they're showing a film of a jukebox musical to a live audience and occasionally someone actually sings in front of them; with backup gospel singers. Very confusing.
I don't understand this.
So is any of the show, apart from Tyler Perry, live?
This is really weird and confusing. I feel like they are trying to do too much at once.
I also find it alienating as a non-Christian. This is oddly not the case with more traditional tellings of this story.
Edit: Jesus' constant bedroom eyes confuse me.
Nope. I'm done.
I'm bailing as well. It's mostly a weird PSA for New Orleans (as many people speculated it would be), and structurally makes ROCK OF AGES look like MY FAIR LADY.
I'll just put on JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR thank you very much.
Superstar is pretty perfect from religious and secular perspectives alike. There's a reason it's stuck around for nearly fifty years as a staple of the season.
My mom and dad are liking it. I find it weird. Was hoping for more story with characters with songs. Like a real musical. It's almost like they needed to add everything to the cross procession to make it seem less religious.

It's a trainwreck as a musical version of the story. If one wasn't familiar with the story, you'd never get it from this.
The performances are very good, but, they could have done this in a live concert version, with narration, and it would have been more effective. The live shots to the procession are really bizarre.
It's not a musical or a concert or a film... Really, it's more like a million dollar Living Stations.

So the only live part is Trisha and Tyler? What is the point of this?

Beginning to think Mr. Nowack is right. It's a PSA for New Orleans.
The whole show is ineffective, because nobody is playing a character. It's just Trisha or Daughtry singing (quite well, I might add). It feels like a concert, not people portraying characters.

Eh, I'll just get the soundtrack.

This is less of a live musical and more of a sermon crossed with a church play (like a nativity play). Too much narration for me. And I love Trisha Yearwood but she's no Whitney Houston. All the music choices are giving me a Glee vibe.

I don't think Trisha is singing live after all. Why the fake backup singers and band then? This is a hot mess

Oh my God, Daughtry is singing Evanescence. Still not enjoying the show but this is hilarious.

While it is not the best show at all, it is not as awful as I thought it could be.
Based on what I'm hearing and reading on Twitter, Christians are loving this show.
Obviously if you aren't Christian most of the message, music and emotional connection will be lost.
The way I see it this show attracted 2 main audiences: Christians and musical fans. But the real targets are Christians. It's designed to appeal to them and their sentiments. If we're really being honest it's just a way to capture a specific audience and market commercial ads (from Christian tv shows to films) to them and it's succeeding.

When I think Jesus, I think Hoobastank
Is that a hotel Jesus is standing on top of? Wtf?
I thought Jesus was going to zip line from the top of the Westin to the stage.
