That Tyler Perry Jesus Musical is still happening

Heaven help us...

So Jesus is Spanish now?

To be fair, he probably wasn't a pale white dude like all the church paintings portray him to be either...
That article is funny. I like "American Idol star Chris Daughtry—still struggling to raise himself to the one-name echelon inhabited by Madonna, Bono, or Cher..."

So it's a Dutch musical containing "popular tunes".
Are we talking radio hits, Dutch popular tunes (whatever they may be), or....what?

judging by the commercials I see for it every time I watch Hell's Kitchen on demand, I'd assume yes, this Sunday night on Fox.

OY... don't watch Fox so that's how I've missed the commercials. I guess I'll tune in!

Hulu's been airing ads on every commercial break for this. All I learned is there's a giant white cross and Katy Perry's "Unconditional" is actually about God.

There's a CD being released in Friday...

Ugh, I'm going to be on a plane when this is airing. I hope I get DirecTV!

It was always happening. Was there a chance it wasn't?
I would never pay to see one of his plays but I like most of his movies. This should be interesting.

If this is the worst consequence of the live musicals on TV trend then I am okay with that...

My favorite thing about this is in one of the ads, the director or casting director or someone of that ilk said the guy playing Jesus was 'a revelation' and was like do you realize how amazing your word choice is...

i dont know anything about this project but wanted to address your snarky comment about the song. Perry suggested the song could be about many different relationships including spiritual and religious ones. from Perry in 2013: "I love this song because not only can it be a romantic, intimate song, but it can be about the type of love that a mother has when she sees her first child, or best friends or partners..... It's a transcendent love, it's not just relationship status."

I don't get Tyler Perry's appeal, but than again not a single one of his movies has ever been released in Australia. He really does seem to play to one democratic only.

They had me at Katy Perry and Daughtry. I cannot wait.

This looks terrible.
I'm gonna hate watch it with some friends. As long as we're not sober it should be fun.

Guess if Alexander Hamilton can be Puerto Rican, Henry II and Mama Rose can be Black, then there shouldn't be an issue if Jesus is Spanish.

The soundtrack is available on iTunes now, and...that's some track list. Are all of these songs going to be in the actual broadcast? Some insane choices: Creed! Evanescence! A classic R&H showtune!
