The Addams Family Cast Recording

I've just received my **encoded** advance copy (its been sitting in the post box all day grrrrrr) and I must say it's beautifully packaged and recorded, very generous (for these days) in production shots with comes with complete lyrics.
After the first listening it really could sell the show.

Having seen the show I know better.

I'll be buying this at the theatre next week.

Absolutely loved the score when I saw this in New York back in March, so really looking forward to getting my copy of the CD.

Matt - there is a great moment in the show when it's revealed that Gomez thinks Grandma is Morticia's mother and she thinks she's his mother! lol So I guess we'll never know.

I'm not really surprised that Nathan Lane wasn't nominated for a Tony. He was very good in Addams Family but not fantastic - and the guys who have been nominated gave stronger performances in more challenging roles. I'm far more surprised that Alex Hanson didn't get a nomination for ALNM - he WAS fantastic.

However, I didn't think Kevin Chamerlain was particularaly special enough to get a Tony nom either. Again he was very good but not fantastic. And both Stark Sands and Tony Vincent in American Idiot deserved a nomination more than Kevin IMO.

For me the absolute stand-out performance in The Addams Family was Carolee Carmello (her solo number was mind-blowing) - and she didn't get a nomination! So - what the hell do I know?! lol

I hate when i disagree with our Mamma because i think he will go all Carrie White on me and kill me with him telekenetic powers

But

I have to agree with the critics on this score, its lazy, unintresting, disjointed and never takes off.
The music feels like its a parody of the Addams Family or that the writer (i loved his work on Wild Party) just did not have a clue what the Addams was.

The standouts are the opening number (so much better than its Out of Town opening), Pulled and Move Towards the Darkness.

They gave nothing good to Bebe (her sold is only slighty better than her Out of Town one) and Grandma was underused.

Just not a fan

IT'S OFFICIAL... "Clandango", the original opening number from the Chicago pre-Broadway tryouts will be a bonus track on iTunes. Though, the article is old, it is glad to hear the 'news'. lol.

I figured it'd be this song, but you never know. Some people would have guessed "Passionate and True" or "Second Banana". However, some BWW-users who saw the show in Chicago said that the latter song was not very good.
