I misread this as "The Addams Family Movie, Musical," rather than "The Addams Family, Movie Musical."
The biggest tragedy about the Lippa version is that it used a neutered, generic stage farce plot instead of adapting one of the clever, edgier Addams Family films, which contain DOZENS of singable moments in each and allow the family to be both strangely lovable and genuinely sinister, even evil. The stage show's hackneyed "La Cage Aux Folles" inspired plot gave us a family that were spooky but cuddly and harmless, which is not necessarily what people expect or want from the Addamses.

Posted: 7/13/13 at 9:30pmI really enjoyed some of the score but when I saw it live on tour...it just...was pretty barf. The best part about it was Gaelen Gilliland.
