The Best Feeling in the World...

for me:
sitting in a theater, flipping through the playbill. suddenly the lights dim and the first chord of music erupts from the pit. or the actors enter and the show begins.

re: The Best Feeling in the World...

I wasn't aware that there was an award for BESTEST musical ever. Anyone who uses that word and really believes Brooklyn will win (nevermind even being NOMINATED for best musical) should re-examine their participation on this board.

Earlier I said when the curtain came down on DRACULA, and I don't change that but I have one to add:

The moment Avenue Q beat WICKED for best musical and hearing all the Wicked-wastes of life start screaming angry things at the Tony Awards. It was priceless.

Sorry guys, another one just came to mind. When they announced NEVER GONNA DANCE was closing. Never in my life have I seen a worse show. It makes DRACULA seem brilliant.

re: The Best Feeling in the World...

You don't like GYPSY? Gypsy is one of the most brilliant shows EVER written, and this recent production, in my opinion, is one of the greatest ever - it was dark and sinister and painfully truthful, they way it should be. Sam Mendes is a genious. The stripper is supposed to be fat...you really don't like GYPSY?

I'm agreeing with C-Q-T for best feeling. That's my favorite feeling EVER. My heart races as the curtain goes up (or, the actors come on stage if there is no curtain), or the orchestra starts to play. It's just amazing.

re: The Best Feeling in the World...

yea, at the tonys, seeing the scowling faces on the producers of wicked pretty much did it for me....then seeing the stages hands screw up and typed Wicked, rather than Avenue Q. schadenfreude, i guess. Go Q!

re: The Best Feeling in the World...

i wasnt thrilled. it wasnt horrible, and bernadette was great. maybe it was because i was in the alst row of the upper mezzanine and couldnt see anything. that and i had gotten 13 phone calls during the show and i got irritated.

Hearing "Avenue Q" win Best Musical and seeing John Tartaglia in the aisle mouthing "OH MY GOD!!!" into the camera. The cast, and a whole lotta other people, were in complete shock, and I loved it!

Theatre related:
A lot, actually.
When Avenue Q won the Tony, I literally fell off my couch. I was really close to dozing off during the commerial right before, and as soon as they announced the winner I snapped back to my sense and literally fell off the couch.
When tickets that you've ordered come in the mail. I think TM Cara has referred to it as "the happy ticket feeling." re: The Best Feeling in the World...
The start of an overture.

And... my ultimate, number one, head-in-the-clouds theatrical moment: hearing Adam Pascal sing Glory October 10th. I had no idea what was coming. The look on his face was pricless, the audience reaction was priceless... it was just something I never thought I'd see in person. The thought of it still gives me chills almost a month later.

re: The Best Feeling in the World...

i think the best opening i've ever seen was Hair and Assassins. i'd listened to both shows a trillion times and i fantasized about seeing them. finally seeing the opening and being there was amazing. aaaand: i always love before the start of shows i really knew/know nothing about. so mysterious

re: The Best Feeling in the World...

A really glorious orchestra swelling up to a beautiful musical climax. Something like the overture of Follies or A Little Night Music, "Sunday" from Sunday in the Park With George, or the trumpet solo in the overture of Gypsy.

What can I say? I'm a musician; those are the moments that really get to me.

Sitting in Studio 54's balcony knowing the history that building has behind it. Kinda makes you feel dirty (being in the balcony and all) but it's ripe with stories.
