The performing part of the 'Spring Awakening' performance was fine, but the medley was not as well put together as it could have been.
I enjoyed the 'Grey Gardens' most, personally. It wasn't until right near the end of the show that I remembered Christine Ebersole had actually called out sick the day before; she was grand! I also loved Audra's 'Raunchy', and am now and always will be a sucker for Raúl's 'Being Alive'. :3
Mmmm, I loved A Chorus Line's opening too, I was hoping they'd do the opening number and they did, so that was fantastic! Raul, Fantasia and Audra were great too.
I really enjoyed every performance, but Spring Awakening gave me chills, I thought that the medley was perfectly put together.

Curtains. I don't know why. I just found it to be wonderful. Perhaps it was thinking of all of the wonderful memories Kander and Ebb gave Broadway. I just was thrilled with that number. I DID love Grey Gardens and Raul Esparza's Being Alive though.
I thought they were all quite good this year (minus JB and Fantasia), but the biggest surprise for me was Curtains. I haven't seen anything (will be in NY later this month, though), but I have listened to the cast album, but I wasn't too interested in seeing it before their performance. Now, between that and DHP's win, I might just get tickets!

I loved Curtains' performance, they sold the show very well, in my point of view, "Show People" was the only decent number from the show.

Honestly, I thought Curtain's performance was just as good as Christine's Revolution Costume. Curtains definatley picked the right song; it definately made me want to see it. I thought Spring Awakening's medley was sloppy.
I thought Fantasia was great. I really enjoyed her performance.Spring Awakening medley was a bit of a mess but I love the songs they performed. Curtains, Company and Mary Poppins were Awesome!
Awards aside, I would put money on the fact that the performance by Mary Poppins "sold" the most tickets last night. Say what you will - but the show was superbly represented. And that's not the fault of the fantastic performers involved with the other shows. It has to do with the cavernous size of Radio City, the bad camera work and direction which failed the other shows (in my opinion)
The shows didn't come off bad, mind you.. I just thought the only show that seemed to fill and take full advantage of the space was Mary Poppins.

Not to threadjack, and I know its early, but has anyone heard about any box office "jumps"-?
Obviously, "SA" is going to get one, but the talk at my office today (and I didnt urge anyone !) was that everyone was dying to see "110" after seeing "Raunchy" (which is even better in the show !!)
There's no doubt that Mary Poppins sold a lot of tickets because of that performance. They were quite good. I enjoyed that performance more than the whole show honestly.
can anyone PM me a link to the Mary Poppins performance at the tony's? Thx!

Rauls performance was breath taking, I feel it was the best by far. But Curtains was still very entertaining and energetic, as well as SA. Oh - and like everyone else is saying Audra's performance was astounding - it was my first time ever seeing her perform and I was blown away.
SPRING AWAKENING was the worst performed of all the ones I saw, in my opinion. I did not see JERSEY BOYS-- though I hear that was pretty bad. I thought that CURTAINS and MARY POPPINS were boring, but at least they were performed well. Every member of the cast of SPRING AWAKENING was gasping for air between every note, it just was not a good performance. I know, I know, they were nervous. But that does not detract from the fact that the quality was sub par. It all sounds better at the Eugene O'Neill. This is coming from someone who is a fan of the show.
