I did a search for a topic along these lines so I apologise in advance if there's a thread already like this!
I was wondering if the DVD and CD of "The Big Gay Musical" are a worth while purchase?
I've just came across it and it looks...cheesy, camp, over the top...but fun! So just wondering what anyone else makes of it...If you've seen it, is it good? Worth the buy? Anything is appreciated =)
Thanks!

I absolutely LOVE the movie. I watch it on Netflix about twice a month whenever I need a lift. Yes, there's a lot of camp, but not too much for my taste. There are some GREAT songs and vocal performances. The movie is a lot of fun.
There's a lot of eye candy too.
.
It was campy, but somewhat forgetable. i enjoyed Were the World Mine so much more!

Thanks a lot for getting back!
I think I'm just going to buy the DVD...grandpianoalex..you sold it to me by saying there's eye candy hahaa and i might even like it so much as to buy a few songs from iTunes, or the whole CD.
Thanks!
Didn't even make it through 1/4 of "Big Gay..." and while "Were the World Mine" was better, I thought it was kind of a wasted opportunity.

Somehow Caruso's suicide note was forwarded to me on Facebook last night. Creepy stuff.
I just checked my Timehop, and two years ago today was the first time I viewed this film. So very sad. It really was such a heartwarming and campy film, filled with love.
He posted his note on FB.
What a soul crushing note.
I was disturbed by what all the spelling, grammar, and unchanged auto-corrects in the note might imply about what might have been his last moments. So very sad, and difficult to bear witness to.

Yes, MinnieFay. I found the possible implications very disturbing and saddening.

When I finished reading it I tried to digest it but recalled the scene in The Odd Couple when Felix sends his wife a suicide telegram.

Fred was a very complex yet troubled person. If he liked you, you were lucky. If he didn't, well, you better watch out. I am sorry he was hurting so much. Must have been terrible

May he RIP. I didn't know him personally nor have I read his note on Facebook. However, I recall loving the song "As I Am" from this movie. So thank you Fred for sharing your ideas to the world. Thank you for this song.
