Since American Idol contestants have already won a Grammy and an Oscar, I'd say no. Surprising for sure though.

Aaron Tveit, Daniel Radcliffe, Heidi Blickenstaff, Susan Blackwell, 9 to 5 (Steph and Megan too), and [tos] even though I'm thrilled they were nominated for book.

I think Daniel Radcliffe would have been nominated if he had a bigger part.

Susan Blackwell.

I thought Jason Robert Brown would get a nomination for his score to 13.
....but the world goes 'round

Isn't it time Orfeh gets a lifetime achievement award?

No question, Tovah.
I wasnt as wild about Tveit as many others, but I cant believe they nominated that Billy Elliot kid over him. Ouch!

The Seagull; I agree with the poster that it renders the rest of it pretty meaningless. I thought diss-ing Cyrano last year was bad, but the Tonys have outdone themselves by ignoring Thomas, Mulligan and company! It would have been nice to have seen some recognition for Irena's Vow, but not as surprising as the omission of the Seagull, especially after the glowing reviews...

Daniel Radcliffe, Heidi Blickenstaff, Equus, [tos], Seagull.

9 to 5 for Best Musical, Set Design and Book.
Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty for Lead Actress.
Kathy Fitzgerald for Featured Actress.
Shrek for Set Design.
Despite the fact that he's Arthur Laurents, I would have liked to have seen Arthur Laurents get a nomination. I am in the minority of the people impressed with his production of West Side Story.
I agree, plus he's a legend, doesn't that mean anything?

I really wish Aaron Tveit had received a nomination. I loved his performance in next to normal and was shocked to not see his name on the list. He really deserved one.
I also would have like to see Heidi Blickenstaff and/or Susan Blackwell receive a nomination, but I'm content with the ladies who received Featured Actress in a Musical nominations this year.

I was affraid some rabid Laurents fan would attack me, I swear! I'm with you and Mary Rodgers on this one!
Anyhow, I was also surprised the highly enjoyable revival of Blithe Spirit went ignored for Best Revival of a Play. I don't think I was the only one who liked it either. Was I? I did like some perculiar things this year.

I understand his lack of a nomination, but Daniel Radcliffe was truly stunning in EQUUS. Its just a shame he won't get the recognition that comes with a Tony Award.
Same goes with Kristin Scott Thomas...

The Seagull shutout: not only Kristin Scott Thomas but Mackenzie Crook, Carey Mulligan, director Ian Rickson and the stunning revival - Hope Davis and Jane Fonda gave better performances than KST??
Megan Hilty, who I thought would WIN! The general snubbing of 9 To 5; what show did the committee see??
Daniel Radcliffe, who deserved to win for his stunning performance.
Gerald McRaney, Lily Rabe, Tovah Feldshuh, Andrea Martin, Bill Irwin, Nathan Lane, Aaron Tveit, Kathy Fitzgerald, and Matt Cavanaugh were surprising ommissions.
And surprising too were the nominations for Constantine Maroulis, and the general lovefest for God Of Carnage..

I would second all the Tovah Feldshuh and Seagull love, but I didn't see Irena's Vow or The Seagull (which I'm highly disappointed about), so I'll only speak from what I've seen:
Aaron Tveit, Daniel Radcliffe/Equus in general, and [tos] in general. I just don't understand all the ROA love... I'm sure it's fun and enjoyable and yadda yadda... but Best Musical?! Hardly.
