My opinion is that free speech is important, and that deleting random opinions of others that don't necessarily match yours (what is happening here on the forum and what this discussion is about) is alarming.

But considering the fact that you like to delete and erase everything in your way that does not match your way of thinking, you have probably blocked me so you won't read this anyway.

All human beings turn into old hags, if they are lucky enough to have the privilege. Don't be so touchy. And nobody called her anything like that in the first place. The only word used was "aging".

Everyone is offended by something. You can't just direct other people to conform to what you are so sensitive about. Should I want to erase the moderator's message now because his action is rude and offensive to me? No, I can tell him I think it's unreasonable and now we have a nice discussion. That's what the board is about.

Oh, many messages in that one were removed very selectively too. Especially the ones where I pointed out that I was disappointed that Cynthia did not think in "human" but "race". So basically, my messages were deleted for saying "we are still dealing with people here".

Oh my, the double agenda of the moderators.

It's been heading in that direction for a while now. When I joined this site 10+ years ago, there used to be wide-ranging discussions about theater history, experimental theater, Off and Off-Off Broadway, regional theater, opera, etc. Nowadays it's basically just musicals, Broadway, and "does X sign autographs after matinees?""

Those are separate arguments. You can absolutely have a conversation about theater history, experimental theater, Off and Off-Off Broadway, regional theater, opera, etc without "gushing" or exclusively keeping it to positive comments. In fact, it's probably easier to have less emotional discussions when actually talking about something of substance. I happen to see more musicals than plays and I find the rush, stage door, etc. threads to occasionally be a helpful resource. But I'm here if anyone wants to chat opera or off-Broadway. Once in a while I start a thread when I'm enthusiastic about a show no one's talking about. I just don't want to be one of those people who starts a thread just to post his review of a show or link to her blog.

Honey, stop talking about race. Period. It's just not your place to discuss it. You shouldn't have to look past my skin to see me as human. I am what I am. My race is a physical characteristic of who I am. Your white privilege is that you can basically ignore race because racism doesn't effect you. You don't get called racial slurs on the subway. You don't have to live in fear of that. You have the luxury of being blind to race. I cannot be. I don't believe that you live in America which would explain why there is a cultural divide. Here we try to face a problem head on and try to fix it. The race problem in America is insane and so we need to talk about it. I'm just not sure that you understand how racist and tone deaf your remarks are coming off after some recent events in America. Black people are human. White people are human. Asian people are human. We're all human. We don't have to be or think any less "black" to be "human." That being said, Cynthia Erivo is ridiculous on twitter and I agree that she needs to grow the f up. Also, yeah the Chenoweth thread was pretty mean spirited in the way that it was worded. Someone should start up a "Dreamcast Chenoweth" thread that doesn't describe her as "aging," "ancient," and an "old hag." I think that would probably be more constructive.

Totally agree.

It's just that "fixing it" lies not necessarily on emphasizing the separation in all situations that have nothing to do with it, calling out the differences between black and white all day long in every far-fetched situation.
