It's not supposed to make sense! Watch any Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie from the 30s...they're ridiculous (and fabulous!)

Where else would they get the "air-cheep" to have the wedding???

It's just plain old nonsense...and that's what makes it so fun!...for when you're feeling a bit....blue....

I saw the tour of The Drowsy Chaperone yesterday at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.

I thought it was a magnificent production. I went in with high expectations, and they were certainly exceeded! The show ran so smoothly. I never found myself pulling out (except when the ghost next to me adjusted his position in his seat). Jonathan Crombie (Man in Chair) holds some of the best comedic timing I have ever witnessed. My favorite part in the whole show was the "Intermission" with the Man in Chair eating his little Nutrigrain Bar. The show very wittily makes fun of itself, and I really enjoyed that. But I have to rave about Georgia Engel. I love her so much. I fell in love with her in the TV show "Everybody Loves Raymond," and I was ecstatic to be able to see her perform live. She was so hilarious!

I went to the stage door afterwards and was able to meet most of the cast, however Georgia Engel left another way. sad.gif

I highly recommend this production. It has an outstanding cast, and the show itself is incredible (the book, the score, the set, the lighting, the costumes; everything was just phenomenal)!

Hey I love Trix! With Drowsy's origins, being the basis for a stag party, I look at it as one big dare. Just when you think you really have gone too far with the gags and taking the ideas over the top, you ask your cohorts, "can it get any crazier than this?" Of course the answer is always, "yes!" So in comes the Aviatrix!

Every good show should have a Plane in it. I mean Chitty Chitty Bang Bang had a car, Miss Saigon, a Helicopter, what's left that hasn't been done for a while? I mean, even Wicked had a House drop so I felt it was a case of trying to fit in the trend of ridiculous but not redo what has already been done.

I mean, everyone has a Minister! Getting Married underwater is just too common these days. Not too many are Married by an Aviatrix. I like the snappy song so I enjoy the gimmick in here.

Thanks MIC! Keep them coming! I thought the Monkey Song was too crazy but then after a little more thought, well...I had to admit, referring to guys as "apes" did ring a bell so.. I had to accept it for what it was. Once Janet started to lose it and MIC was having fun with it, it was funny. A lot of Canadian Shows seem to have to have some poor Actors dressed up in silly costumes that remind me of Cartoon Characters at an Amusement Park. Maybe they don't want us to get homesick or subconsciously they want to invoke our memories of having a good time at some Theme Park? I don't know but there has often been this kind of intermission for a little silly song and dance in many of the Canadian shows up there?

Like adding animation to an Actor driven Musical. In the Movie version of Mary Poppins they did this with the Penguins dancing and Carousal Horses! It makes me laugh so I'm not complaining.

I've been thinking about this show alot today. Don't know why. I really do love it, and I'm so excited that the tour will be coming to Dallas this summer! There is just something about this show that I love, and it is actually really funny because I despise 1930's musicals. Anyway, I've enjoyed reading the reviews, and I can't wait to see it in a couple of months.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

I saw the show Saturday in Atlanta as well. Back almost two years ago I saw Drowsy's second preview with the entire original cast and it was absolutely fantastick. So I as well went into the Fox with high expectations. I thought it was done so well. Jonathan stole the show for me. He was wonderful. I thought the guys who played Robert and George worked great together. The only two I didn't really like were Janet and The Chaperone. They just werent Beth and Sutton. Aldolpho was great! His timing was SOO much different than Danny Burstein's but it worked so well. He really made Aldolpho his own and I loved it. Over all I just thought it was a great production of a great show.

I'm so glad to hear great reviews of Jonathan... Man in the Chair is the best part of the show.

I'm not complaining about Trix, but from an actor/producer standpoint, it just seems pointless. I mean, you come on in the begining to spout a few lines, then come in at the very end, and singe a few more lines, then curtain. But whatever, the lady playing Trix was a great singer. And the joke with the power guy at the end was brillant.

You're a producer? Aren't you still in high school?

It's alright. I wish Trix had more to do but I think they tried really hard to give everyone something special to do in the show. What more could she really do?

I'm happy to hear the new Aldopho is working out so well. He's so tall! It will be funny though if he has a new angle on it. I love Danny's performance so much so I'm just thinking positive.

Someone told me that they bought tickets and the Actor now playing Aldopho called them back with a recorded message to thank them for buying tickets to the show! That sounded pretty funny.

Well, I loved the NY performances too. Yet, I love the show and as long as everyone can sing their parts I will be be happy. I know Jonathan can carry the MIC so we are anxious to get it finally.

It's just the kind of show you expect from Broadway. Singing, Dancing, Tapping, so I can't help but love it for it's humor. Nothing serious going on here! It's fun and it's nice to be somewhere that you can see (and hear) so many people having a good time. It's infectious and I love it for that.

Well you can come to SF? or LA? Ha, ha, that's because it's sitting down in SF! I wish! Talk to your big Theater Managers. I can't see why it isn't going to Seattle too? Lots of Canadians feel cheated they aren't getting it on the West Coast out there too. So maybe they would cross the border if you get it?

They are advertising it in Denver for October. No venues booked for September so it just might not end in SF? So go and ask and maybe they will book it? Good luck in Seattle! Tell them Bill Gates wants Drowsy and see what they have to say? re: The Drowsy Chaperone Tour Thread
