Booking a school trip... think Next to Normal or Hair will be open May 2010? Aug 25 2009, 05:43:06 PM
You all seem to be experts on predicting the deaths of shows, so I figure I'll ask here. I'm booking a show for my class to see during our annual trip to New York in late May 2010. Two of the shows of high interest are Next to Normal and Hair. Do you guys think they'll still be open then? We're trying to play it safe and not book a show that will close by then, but we're really trying to avoid seeing a show like Wicked or Mamma Mia. We know they'll be open, but we don't really want to

Yea, note that she gave that face AFTER Alice's speech. It's merely a reaction.

I think Trent looked ridiculous. The number is much better in context. And the Tony Winning choreography is not at its best in that number. The visual of the wall falling and the guards mounting themselves behind it was very nice, though.

Horrible performance at the Tony Awards last night. I was embarrassed for her and for the show.

re: The Drowsy Chaperone Tour Thread Jan 28 2008, 01:31:23 PM
I saw the tour of The Drowsy Chaperone yesterday at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. I thought it was a magnificent production. I went in with high expectations, and they were certainly exceeded! The show ran so smoothly. I never found myself pulling out (except when the ghost next to me adjusted his position in his seat). Jonathan Crombie (Man in Chair) holds some of the best comedic timing I have ever witnessed. My favorite part in the whole show was the "Intermission" with the Man in Chai

To my surprise, I enjoyed it. The transitions were great, the cast is phenominal (esp. Kate Shindle, Orfeh, Laura Bell, and Nikki Snelson); I also was very entertained by the Greek Chorus, and the music was great. Some set pieces were a little too busy. Also, there were many times that the background people became too distracting. And after really enjoying the movie, some parts were very disappointing. For example, the scene where Elle and Paulette take back the dog was very anti-climactic, Elle
