1972. Imperial Theatre on W. 45th Street. Original cast of PIPPIN. I was 7 years old. Started my passion for Bob Fosse and his work, plus that year was a HUGE year for him so he was EVERYWHERE in the media, which helped feed my Bob Fosse fire. CABARET was in the movies; LIZA WITH A "Z" was on TV and PIPPIN was on Broadway. That year was hell for my parents and my older sister. re: The First Play You Ever Saw?

Musical: Pirates of Penzance
Play: Harvey (both at my sister's school)

I believe my first professional play was Broadway (Man, was I surprised that there was no music in it) at a local theatre, and my first professional musical was... it might've been Chicago, which was my first Broadway show as well.

My first opera was Tosca, I distinctly remember that.

The first straight play I saw on Broadway was the recent revival of Noises Off with Patti LuPone. I loved it!!! Between Act II and Act III, the set broke so Patti came out and put on a ten minute concert for us accapella (sp?) while they fixed the set.

The first play I ever saw was called See How They Run, about a lot of mistaken identity at an English vicarage. The first musical I ever saw was Goldilocks, the Leroy Anderson musical, which I saw for my birthday, in 1958! My biggest memory of it was that it seemed to have lots of sets and lots of dancing.

The first live theater I ever saw was a children's theater production of either Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates or Peter Pan, I saw both, just don't remember which came first.

First Broadway Musical: Evita, original Broadway cast, except it was a Wed. matinee with my high school, so I didn't see Patti, she took those off.

First Broadway Play: Othello with James Earl Jones, Christopher Plummer and Dianne Weist.

mattonstage, I will forever begrudge you your Broadway EVITA experience.

My first play (that I recall, anyway) was a community theater production of THE VELVETEEN RABBIT. It was a third grade field trip.

My first musical was either GODSPELL or JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (I saw both, but can't remember which one came first) at same theater.
