$25 million for a show like this makes my teeth hurt. And assuming it bombs on Broadway, $25MM is an exorbitant amount to be recouped via touring and licensing.
I enjoyed the movies but mostly because the quirky comedy of Chevy matched the story and writing to a tee. The rest of the cast - Beverly particularly - also a perfect fit. How they can reclaim that on stage with different actors would seem to be impossible. Except for the 'vacation' premise they're starting from zero.
Glen Kelly AND Greg Anthony Rassen working together on arrangements and orchestrations means that even if the show isn't great, that cast recording is going to sound good. Producers and Bandstand are both master classes in orchestration.
Out of town I believe it was Glen Kelly on arrangements & Larry Hochman on orchestrations. Two people who know a thing or two about improving a middling score.
