Lizzie...I think I may have seen you at the Borders event....standing all along on the right side of the room (by the wall) eagerly awaiting the cast while everybody was sitting :)
The chick? Are you referring to Jennifer Evans? The publicist?

I have seen Jennifer Evans as Mary and as Lorraine and I thought she was quite good in both roles.

Wow, I really regret subscribing to this thread back when it was a baby with three or four posts.
Love the pictures of Rick, though, & the video! He was my favorite part of the show as Joey & has been sorely missed, so I look forward to seeing his Frankie...
Think of the many amusing and informative posts of the past.
Rick Faugno's Joey was totally insane and hyper, in a good way; I'm sorry that I probably won't be able to see him as Frankie, as the alternate times are not really convenient with a 9-5 work week. But, I guess I can't complain as I've been able to see two first performances (Erik Bates as Tommy, Miles Aubrey as Bob Gaudio).

Eric has updated his blog (http://theguter.blogspot.com/index.html). He has highlights from the benefit and mentions his first time as Gaudio. And it's his last post as a single man since he will be leaving for his wedding. Congrats to him and Sarah.

That's what I loved about Rick's Joey. He always got a laugh out of me when he was on. Courter was ok, when I saw him, didn't find him as funny as Rick. But it was a day into his run so I'm sure he's more used to the role by now. But I'll be finding out this weekend when I see the show again, and for the final time with this cast.
I would love to hear some reviews on how the understudies (Erik as Tommy, and both Miles and Eric as Bob) did in their debuts. I was lucky enough to catch Eric's debut as Tommy. And since I can only see the show on the weekends, I'd love to hear about Rick's take on Frankie.
Edit: I forgot to ask, for those who attended the meet and greets this past Saturday, how did they go and were there any highlights?

Erik as Tommy was very much like Hoff's portrayal, which was a total shock for me after getting used to Deven's more stylized performance(which I describe as Rodney Dangerfield-like). He was good, but very hesitant for the first half, as if he was so worried about hitting cues and being exactly where he needed to be that he couldn't focus on the acting. But considering it was his first show, he was pretty amazing, and the potential is most def there.
Miles as Gaudio I think is a little bit miscast, especially for the first act. He just reads as too old for the meek act to be effective, and he was much stronger in the second act. His Gaudio seemed like much less of a presence than Erich's does, and when he's silent (which I realized at this performance is actually a lot of the running time) he kind of fades into the background to the point where when the reporter says that the group never really took off until Bobby joined I was like "Bobby who?" But again, first performance, and he had very little notice, so I'm sure he'll improve. I feel awful now. I still love you Miles! I just think maybe he should be understudying Nick Massi instead. :)
When I saw Miles as Bob I thought the same thing -- he'd be a better Nicky. But the problems I had with him had nothing to do with anything he was doing and more that he was miscast. I actually liked Miles as Bob better in "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" than Erich.

Thanks for those reviews Shesamarshmallow. I can't wait to hear your review for Rick.
I'm going to miss the Sherry cast when they leave, but I'm also excited for the next cast coming in. Hopefully I can get back to the city early enough from Davis on 5/4 to get a good spot in the rush line for the next company's first performance. By the way, have they officially announced the cast members for that. I know most of the info has been posted but there are still a few holes that need to be filled.

No, they haven't officially announced anything. I meant to ask at Borders if they knew when an announcement would be made, but completely forgot.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with shesamarshmallow and LizzieCurry on Miles Aubrey as Bob Gaudio. He was quite good, it's just that he doesn't look 22 (and I don't really think any of the other guys who could understudy the role do, either). He was clearly pitching up his voice and cultivating awkward body language and a certain social awkwardness, but it just didn't read as 22 (especially when Chris Jones' Frankie calls him "kid."). In act 2, it worked out much better, especially in "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," when he had some great expressions as he was watching Frankie's big moment. His voice is heavier than Erich Bergen's, which was fine, it just was a different sound.
As to Erik Bates, I thought he came off more like a regular guy who happens to be a bit of a loser, rather than Deven May's flamboyant, nearly mythic loser-ness in the role. He was more subdued, in accent and in general presentation; it just was an interpretation that was quieter.
They both were really good, though, especially considering it has to be pretty terrifying to go on for the first time. I'd be curious to see either or both of them when they've had a few more performances under their belts.
